I agree with being against dismissing people with "You're just being crazy." Shit like that and "relax" or "calm down" when something that I should very obv not be calm about makes me upset, will REALLY make me upset. I'm glad to see someone not taking my ignorance as purposeful disrespect of mental disorders (I hope that's the right term).

FWIW, I think using "crazy" is fine, especially if you're not a professional. It's problematic if people use it to dismiss someone's reactions to something ("You're just being crazy."), but there are definitely times even laypeople see something that is very obviously abnormal, so of course you'd call it crazy. I work in an inpatient psych hospital (like in It's OK to Not Be OK).
