I wouldn't be surprised if Sitri let the debt grow intentionally so she could financially trap Krai. I also like how Liz and Sitri are casually talking about offing someone if Krai says. On second watch, I realized people who never met Krai actually see him for what he really is but change their mind when they see something they can't explain. Each story arc has at least one person correctly doubt the legitimacy of Krai (Gilber, Gein, and now Arnold). Krai seems like an inverse of an old common myth storytelling trope: there is a creature or person on the side of the road that seems to be inconsequential but is actually important. (I don' t know if there is a word for it)
