I'd say it's not necessarily that people hate the OP itself, rather it's just that it's so out of nowhere with a completely different style than all the previous ones that it clashed hard with people's expectations, hence the stronger reaction. Especially for those who don't really enjoy that type of music, it's like being served banger steaks one after the other and then suddenly being served a wet mop on a plate.
