Studio still gets paid same by the publisher who is their bossman when it comes to ordering works from the studios w/ shit-tier budgets etc. Anime kinda fucked up the translation, since based on the line, Belzebuth probably used to be the Maou before (makes sense since we know the grand mage is an Isekai character now, gotta have the MC defeat the maou & adds the maou to the harem & all that). I mean I suppose in retrospect the name made it kinda obvious.
