well wouldnt it be natural for a father to try and take his child from a brothel? and the brothel sold her to Jinshi in the end even though shes not a courtesan because somehow the brothel has ownership over her? the brothel did raise her for the most part (I think?) while keeping her hidden from her father? it sure seems like the brothel wanted to keep Mao so they could make a profit after all the old lady has threatened to sell her many times and has clearly extorted her (making her pay for time wasted on the girls) as we saw in previous episodes the old lady seems more sus than him at this point

He even made it clear to Jinshi that he wants to take her from him. There is also the fact that he told the story about how he lowered the courtesan‘s value by getting her pregnant. He also knew what would happen to Jinshi but did nothing.

The "Resurrection Drug" is similar to what the 1 baddie in the 1st RDJ Sherlock Holmes movie did to evade his execution via hanging, and scam people into thinking he's a mf ghost or undead or w/e. It basically puts you into a coma w/ a delayed recovery. Granted this would be too complex IRL to do w/ natural ingredients like that, you would likely suffer RNG damage from the induced coma, such as memory loss or other such brain/nerve damage being in such a state for prolonged (multiple hours+) periods would cause, given how vital heart functions & other shit are for the brain 24/7. Solely getting your memory basically reset for good is probably you getting off real lightly, w/ fucking it up & just dying from organ failure being the most likely outcome in the other extreme side, w/ permanent partial paralysis being somewhere in the middle, and temporary/lesser regional paralysis being somewhere between min & mid threshold, based on severity for quality of life post-procedure. For the aging it's basically grandma (current Empress Dowager) is like 45 or so, son is like 35 or w/e, and grandson is 19 (also granddaughter is like 2 or w/e based on the fact she can now walk, which she couldn't back in earlier cour when Maomao was still in the rear palace)
