Aside from the obvious budget issue, I think that it was how the studio Silver Link tends to handle most of their adaptations which may resulted the lack of expectancy for the next episode. I feel like that the studio inclined to compress a series of events for an arc and mainly focus on demonstrating the important nodes of the story, in order to provide a fast-paced and straightforward presentation for a weekly episodic release, while many establishing details were left out so that the audience may not feel connected to the show; on the other hand, there are other shows that have added more establishing details to their narratives for immersing the audience, but some other people have complained about those additional build-ups being too slow-paced before the actions kicking in as well.
