Some people in the chat pissed me off, really. How can you say Lakan is at fault here? He didn't have a choice, but to follow his father's order. It's not XXI century. He didn't plan for the pregnancy, he just slept with the women he loved, who loved him back. A lot of circumstances worked against him. The biggest villain in this story is the Granny. She basically forced Mao's mother to sell her body in the streets afterward. The freaking Granny is the reason she got syphilis. The Granny is the reason he wasn't able to visit her after he returned. IDK what you think y'all, but the Granny is literally the owner of the brothel, the one that earns the money selling girls. She's maybe treating the high-level courtesans and Maomao nicely, but you have to remember that she also sells regular girls as a basic prostitutes.

Mission: Yozakura Family Kaiju No. 8 Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Bartender: Glass of God Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night (anime original by Dogo Kobo, studio behind Oshi no Ko) I'm watching a lot more, but these are the ones I'm looking forward to the most. I HIGHLY recommend checking out those first two.

So her first memory of him is bleeding from the head with a creepy laugh asking her to call him "Papa". Here's a quote from the manga, she said "That dreadful figure was burned into the depths of my childlike mind." Then he tries to buy her out for years. I wouldn't be happy with him either.
