It was not announced as split into 2 cours. It was officially confirmed as a 2nd season. Usually if it is a cour it will have the info up on MAL at least midway through the run of the 1st cour. It was listed as only 12 episodes. No official sources have called it a cour, only season 1 and season 2. If you did get this from an official source please share it with me.
