The beach literally is canon. They transitioned into it, and they're talking about events that just happened. It was in the manga as well. It's Mashle being Mashle. There's nothing weird about it. Yes, serious shit has been happening lately, but it's always been a goofy series and Mash himself rarely takes things seriously.
