2024-05-06 13:49:42 +0000 UTCALL Magicians are weapons, hence why they can't leave their countries w/o gobmint approval, since they are effectively government military PROPERTY (this is a "benefit" and a con, since this gives them access to more areas as military property so to speak, at least compared to normies), engineered over decades at the Research Institutes (this episode features 9th Research Institute as the title box states, which as the name implies is responsible for engineering the Kudou (Nine Islands) clan from the Magician stock selected during WW3 or so). So Minoru is basically even more engineered than most, basically going to extra length vs most other Magicians of the Master Clans who have their lineage origins from said Research Institutes. clearly this is why he's so sick, cuz he's been overengineered or w/e effectively leaving him physically "crippled" by poor health etc in exchange for souped up magic mojo etc

2024-05-05 21:30:56 +0000 UTCSPOILER ALERT In the Mahouka world, 33 years before Tatsuya join the Magic High School, the area where today is the Great Asia Union (basically China + Korea peninsula, but it does not include Taiwan), actually was divided into 2 huge countries. The north was ruled by Great Asia Union, and the south was ruled by a country named Dahan. Those 2 countries actually were not in a good mood themselves, since when the East Asia continent was divided into North and South, the most advanced modern magic research institute attached itself in Dahan. It basically caused that the Great Asia Union lost their entire access to all the modern magic research. By the other hand, the Dahan lost almost all the access to the natural resources concentrated in the north region. Both countries were not in an open war, but they saw each other as potential enemies. Even though Dahan had access to modern magical resources, at that time (about 30 years ago), magic alone was not enough to guarantee the country's security, and they knew that the North with more available resources was a threat. That is why they were looking for more powerful mages no matter what. In mid of this context, in 2062 when Yotsuba Maya (current Yotsuba Head and Tatsuya aunt) was visiting Taipei (Taiwan) during the cultural exchange program with Saegusa Kouichi (current Saegusa Head and Mayumi father). At that point, the Yotsuba family name was already well known cross the world for being a family with extremely powerful mages. And since the magic capability is deeply related with the DNA, some scientist from Dahan order the kidnap of Maya to use her DNA as experiment samples. Kouichi that at that point was Maya fiancé, tried to save her, but no success. Maya was taken into Dahan, and Kouichi returned to Japan injured (due to the battle with the kidnappers). Once the Yotsuba family received the news, the former Yotsuba head, Yotsuba Genzou (Maya and Miya father, Tatsuya grandfather) order to the entire Yotsuba clan members, to put all the efforts in rescue Maya. The members of Yotsuba clan, as requested by Genzou, were able to rescue Maya. But at that point she was already rapped, used as a rat experiment and had lost her capacity to have a baby for the entire life. The Yotsuba clan members swore revenge, and they spent about 1 year and half to basically kill/assassinated all the Dahan's politics, government members, scientists and military. In order to do it, the Yotsuba members pushed themselves so hard, that it caused the death of a lot of family members due to the excessive usage of magic. By the other hand, the Great Asia Union saw this incident between the Dahan and the Yotsuba as an opportunity to take Dahan and dominate it. But at the same time, they were very worried about Japan's power, since they saw that only one single family was able to basically destroy the structure of a country as big as the Asian Great Union was before, in only 1 year and half. This concern made them start a lot of tentative to undermine Japan's power, a couple of years later they restabilized themselves. This incident made the entire world knows that they cannot touch into the Yotsuba. Being Yotsuba enemy started to mean the death across the people in the military, and outlaw. Also, to avoid the same kind of incident again, the Yotsuba family adapted to a high security policy about their family members, not allowing the others to know who are their children for example. (Reason why Miyuki for example is not allowed to let the others know that she is a member of Yotsuba). Maya and Kouchi's fiancé was also broken up after this incident due to the fact that Maya could no longer have children. Finally, the Ghost, he is actually a survivor from Dahan, that was able to escape from Yotsuba revenge at that time, but now is working behind the screen to destroy the Japan and especially destroy the Yotsubas that destroyed his country.

After they confirm the advantage of magic during the Yokohama Incident, they decided to invest in more magic students to produce more powerful combat mages in the future. Their goal is to improve the military force itself, and they are not aware about the parasite doll at all, at least part of the them. The other part that knows about the parasite doll don't care about it. For them, all they need to achieve is the increase of military power. No matter if it is from human or non human source. -The second layer is from Kudou Retsu (former Kudou head). After see Tatsuya group using the Pixie in the Visitor arc, he noticed the possibility of use the parasite doll as weapon. His goal is replacing the combat mages to parasite, so the mages will be released from the fate of being used as weapon and Minoru will not need to go to the battlefield if a war happens in the future. Also, he wants to release the mages from the uncontrolled desire to create more powerful mages no matter the cost, that resulted in the Minoru body. He also think about use the Nine School Tournament as an experiment a good idea because he knows that in the end Tatsuya can handle it. So he is not really worried about an accident happening with the students at all. -The third layer is the Saegusa Kouichi (Saegusa Head) that tried in the Double Seven arc guides the press criticism from the entire magians world to the military and students in order to target Yotsuba family in the end and mining this way part of the Yotsuba power. Tatsuya mostly crashed Kouchi's plan last time with the Gravitational Control Nuclear Fusion reactor experiment, but with the military move this time, there is a chance of the criticism return. -The fourth layer is the Zhou Gongjin. Officially his an owner of a China restaurant in Yokohama, but behind the screen he works for the Ghost (I will use Ghost at this time since his name was not told in the anime yet, and it would be a spoiler) as immigrants broker and supporter to criminal organization and anti Japan government forces to mine Japan forces. He also has few connections with some authority and when the plan fail he only acts as he never had anything with the plan and continue living as nothing happened. This time the Ghost asked him to make the parasite doll go berserk, so they can create incident that may hurt and traumatize the students that will join the Steeplechase event. After it they can use the incident as a card to attack more the military via media. So basically this arc connects almost everything that happened up to this moment. -Great Asia Union is trying to mine Japan power several times in the last few years(Okinawa, Nine School Tournament and Yokohama) -Due Tatsuya interference, Japan was able to win both conflicts without so much damage -The usage of Material Burst in the Yokohama Incident bring out the alerts of USNA, and made them start investigate of what caused the 'Grate Bomb' (as they call the Material Burst) -As part of this investigation, they divided the investigation in two area. 1 is to find who was the magic user (find Tatsuya). 2 is understanding how works the magic process that create such grand explosion. -In order to "replicate" the bomb, the scientist in USNA ran an experiment that created a black hole and exported the energy from there. -This Experiment caused the bring of parasite to this world. -Those parasites entered the body of the USNA military and took control of their minds. -The Ghost saw those parasites incident as an opportunity and worked behind the screens to move them to Japan. Zhou Gongjin also helped the parasites to enter in Japan -The Ghost and Gongjin goal with this were to gain time to reestablish their influence in Japan while the 10 clans and Government were looking for the parasite. -Backing to the part 1 of the USNA investigation, they decide to send the Stars battalion to Japan. But this time, not only to find Tatsuya (Material Buster user), but also to eliminate the military posed by parasite that run into Japan. -Tatsuya fought with them, and one of the parasites entered the Pixie body after the battle with Tatsuya in the High School ground. -The same Pixie started to obey Tatsuya due Honoka emotion influence. -Kudou Retsu saw it and had interest on this technology of seal parasite into dolls and use them as weapon. -During all the Visitor Arc, Zhou Gongjin was able to restructure the influence he lost before, and at the double seven arc start to work in influence the press to put the media against the magians. -Zhou Gongjin wants to undermine Japan power and Saegusa wants to undermine Yotsuba power with the media. Since Yotsuba is one of the most powerful family in Japan, undermine it's power means undermine Japan's power. So there were a benefit for both into focus the attack into the military and high school student. This mutual benefit made them take their hands in this episode.
