2024-05-04 06:14:25 +0000 UTCEpisode 1 the auctioneers stated the basic Rare Species 101 sales pitch, stating that (as you know) Elves are closest lifeforms to spirits & gods, which checks out because of Mysticism, which I suppose is bloodline related or w/e, given it's not common enough for most people to know about & all that, and the normie elves didn't use it either. I guess it's like a nerfed version of w/e BS powers deities have in general? Basically lite Reality Warping depending on training/affinity/whatever, w/ a nature theme more or less? Honestly wouldn't be surprised w/ the big boi leader sorcerers called Archdemons, if Mysticism is god/spirit stuff, and sorcery is demon shit or w/e (as was mentioned by Zagan, it's theorized that the magic circle glyphs or w/e are probably from gods or demons or w/e. There seems to have been some differences between the glyphs used by the Church vs the sorcerer ones, at least if the images shown are reliable. Like 2 different writing systems basically? The sorcery stuff is more standard arcane stuff, vs the script on the sacred sword looking more flowy script w/ less harsh angles)

And perhaps they were scared of this little child unintentionally creating a huge vine monster by sneezing too hard or something and it wreaks havoc on their sleepy little village. agreed tho, fuck em they got what was coming to em LOL sidenote, this and Villainess lvl 99 has taught me that making hair color a racism allegory in your story tends to fall flat, like homie you can just like dye that shi and boom no more racism, cheat code unlocked. we've had this technology since ancient times. white hair should be especially easy to dye, no bleach needed

2024-05-03 22:22:37 +0000 UTC25:48 yeah as much as I love this show, sometimes the scores they use for certain scenes make NO sense. they'll put that tense but quirky lydian xylophone lick over a scene that's SUPPOSED to be dramatic and epic. the talk during the lap pillow in ep 4 definitely doesn't need that cute lil staccato piano and string bit, and it's ESPECIALLY clear when Zagan starts crying how little the music fits. it should've had something soft and sad, something that fits a heart-to-heart with a loved one right before going to bed. The right music would've made the "you're not a bad person, master" line hit SOOO hard, like imagine if they used something similar to the music Dangers in My Heart used for major development scenes. don't get me wrong, the music is nice, very danceable, but... the placement is REALLY weird

We're kicking off episode 3 with VIOLENCE AGAINST A CHILD 🥳" talk about coming out the gate swinging jokes aside i've ALWAYS wanted a story to explain wtf all those symbols in the fancy circles are for. I wanna see one go as deep as Naruto does with overexplaining it. If Mushoku Tensei can manage to invent four separate languages, one of these shows has to invent some sort of fully-developed system of "cool looking magic circle programming" hullabaloo solely for my amusement
