You don't have to pretend you never saw her since she has appeared in the anime, but now isn't the time to focus on that. We got a fight in Tempest. You have seen her in season 1, but it is not Shizue.

Might wanna check the source material before you come after the author. It's rare for an anime to get things correct and a lot of character nuance is thrown out for timing or hype.

This might make Ainz an interesting, morally grey character, but I don't think so. I don't trust that the author (mangaka?) knew what they were doing. That's not the impression I get. I think it's just awkward writing without a clear vision.

2024-05-26 22:10:23 +0000 UTCi'm anime only, i think overlord started off strong in season 1. as it went on I didn't really like the direction of the story and the world building. seems like a lot more interesting things could have been done with 3 seasons. but the biggest issue i have is that it's built into the plot that Ainz doesn't see character development. his allies can only interpret him as a genius even when he is stupid and shallow. that not only makes him a worse character, but makes everyone around him feel like an npc.

It's not horrendously terrible, but it's far and away the worst of the slime openings we've had so far. Also, small detail that was easy to miss if you didn't pause on the scene: When Arnaud attacked Benimaru, both of them used the back of their sword. Neither of them wanted to actually harm the other party.
