Maybe I thought more so that it wasn't Burgess that can actually get the power or fruit. Idk I feel like its either Blackbeard himself or the doctor of his crew that is actually the ones that can instantly take the power and feed it to BB.

But to explain, when a devil fruit user dies, the fruit will reappear in a nearby similar looking fruit. Like Smileys fruit appearing in an apple, if it wasn’t apples nearby it would’ve appeared where ever the nearest apple was.
