Despite they were based off the same material, I think that the two adaptations were portraying the main duo with somewhat different personalities along with subtle dialogue or emotion changes, as I'm watching both adaptations one after another each episode. I think that Holo in the original adaptation was behaving more assertive while Laurence was more sensitive, while Holo was naughtier and Laurence was blunter in the newer adaptation. Also I think that the limited budget for the original adaptation has made the facial expressions to be shown in less details yet they were shown more exaggerationally and more impactful while they were slightly lacking at presenting the more subtle expressions, and the newer adaptation is good at displaying the micro-expressions while somewhat falling at portraying the facial expressions during an emotionally intense moment with the finer brushes.
