They are calling him the Sorcerer because "Majin" can be translated into "Demon" or "Magic Person". This is generally why "Demons" in most anime don't look like demons at all, but often just basically humans w/ extra shit, because they are MAGIC PEOPLE (I think Tensura did it best by translating Majin into "Magicborn", which gives the meaning better than "Demon" does given how varied Majin are as a collective, w/ dozens if not hundreds of races that are Majin etc). Not unlike how Maou in some cases should be translated into "Magic Lord" instead of "Demon Lord" (such as in Tensura's case, IDK why they fumble the ball with this translation when every other "Ma-" prefix terms are translated into stuff like "magicules", "magicborn" etc etc, following this pattern "Maou" should also be translated into "Magic Lord/King" which is clearly the implication given literally only one demon is among the Maou...)
