If You Want, Part 1 (early release)
Added 2018-08-21 21:01:36 +0000 UTCOK, so I had this funny idea and I decided to take a day's break from working on Harmony Reed. (Or has Harmony Reed taken a day's break from working on herself? HEYO) (That's a really lame joke on the plot twist) (If you don't get it it's me not you)
Anyway! I wrote the first part of what I think will be a two-part story. It's about a woman meeting a guy with the world's lamest superpower -- the power to make people do what they want to do. Dumb, right? I told myself that that was all his power would do, no cheating. He can try to be clever, but no outright tricks. (e.g. "Ugh, I have such a hangover, I wanna die" *dies* = no) I considered it an amusing little authorly challenge.
Forewarning: It's a real slow burn. If you're looking for a little hot sauce, you may want to wait until I do part 2 next week. Part 1 is mostly setup and a slow build; Part 2 is where I'll see how far we can abuse this silly little power I dreamed up. But I didn't have it in me to write another 6000 words just yet, so I figured why not do some installments, like in days of old. More to come!

Ha! Amazing timing. I literally just opened the document for part 2 not 10 minutes ago. Should be done this weekend! I got so pumped doing TIOS 2 I got sidetracked. The first four chapters are already almost as long as the whole first book!

It reminds me a bit of an older story ("Self Control" by Heimdall) about a character who could only control his own mind. Seemingly useless, but the writer had some fun ideas for it. Looking forward to the next part! (Also, "X-Men", not "X-men", I'm sorry that I know that and now you know that.)
