The First Slam Dunk MOVIE Reaction [FULL]

Comments

As a Korean SD fan, this movie was a MASSIVE HIT in Korea. I think it was because, like you mentioned in the video, there were many people who haven't read manga before but still enjoyed the movie. It was so well-made and I fell in love with all of the characters again. So happy to see a reactor watching this masterpiece. :)

Phenomenal movie, what a masterpiece, still remember I cried like shit in cinema last year. As the top 1 manga of my childhood and literally brought all the love and passion for basketball, love Slam Dunk so much, always crying reading the manga. And some explanation for movie might be helpful here. As a PG who plays student basketball so many years feel it so deeply, zone press like that in the movie would be fucking tough to break in the student basketball, especially an immature team like them whose never practiced for it, a player having the ball can’t go through double easily, and the rest offenders can’t tell should they go back to help or just stay in their position. And then was that “intentional foul”, you could see the referee raising his two hands then holding his forearm with the other hand, we call that “U” and it means “unsportmanlike foul” in FIBA rules. The last thing was when Anzai said there’s another meaning he told Sakuragi to grabbed more offensive rebounds. The more offensive rebounds he got, the more confidence given to Mitsui, then he could just shoot more and more. Then they switched Kawata to lock Sakuragi, this movement activated the offensive of Akagi, we could see him got bounced off shots after that, so the offensive rebounds of Sakuragi would break the defensive balance of Sannoh, this was what coach Anzai meant.

Did not see this one coming. Not really a big Slam Dunk fan, but I can appreciate its impact in the anime industry. Also, this was one hell of a CG masterclass. The stylized art, the fluid motion. You can really tell the budget and effort that they put into this movie's quality.
