About the necklace/barrier thing, the card does not work on spells alrady in action, the barrier was created before the queen and Celica were in range, in fact Glenn runs towards them before the queen can remove the necklace. Regarding how he knew about the neklace, I assume he just knew something was up and they couldn't say the truth, he noticed that the queen had a necklace that was not the one she cared so much, and just guessed. As the queen said she would never take it off and that was her favourite one, he knew that the necklace was the problem because he knows the queen's favourite necklace is the same that Rumia has.

2024-09-10 22:33:43 +0000 UTCI understood it as the captain of the knights knew that the girl in front of him was the princess and he didn't hesitate to try kill her because that was the only way for him to save the queen (which has the highest priority for him, hence him also saying that he would take the responsibility and kill himself. Probably because the captain knew that the queen still loved Rumia). After Glenn asked the queen to stop the order to kill Rumia the captain said "We cannot do that" because he knew about the curse necklace and the restrictions, so for him the only way to save the queen was to kill rumia (the princess) because her dying would lift/destroy the curse necklace. Also the restriction on the necklace prevented anyone from performing certain actions as removing the necklace or reveal how to undo the curse. Hence Celica wasnt able to tell glenn exactly what was going on. So, I assume Glenn eventually realized it was due to a cursed necklace, as he was aware of the existence of such necklaces and the conditions/restrictions. Additionally, he highly valued Celica's prior words, which further influenced his thinking, as well as the prior conversations he had with the queen about Rumia.

The mission he had for transporting her after she "died" was literally his last mission pretty much, so it stays in the mind quite well, given how disgusted he had become about magic due to cynicism from the line of work over time.
