Sneak Peek: The RA

Don't get too excited - I still have a fair amount of editing to do before there's a book to share. But since I've had a lot of folks asking what this story is, what's it about, I thought I'd give a preview for folks who wanted a taste. Attached is the first chapter. For those $20 pledgers who read the original iteration, it's undergone a massive shift in tone. Combined with having to draw a formal floor plan for Higgins 3 so I could track movements as Spencer makes his way down the hall, this took me way longer to ready than I'm proud of. I have a folder of pictures as loose inspiration for each girl on Higgins 3; above we see Dana, freshman piccolo player in the Lakeview Marching Band, referenced in the attached chapter. Be advised this chapter is proofread but not spellchecked; that's the last button I hit before publication and it's kind of a chore so it's the very last button I hit before final publication.

So if you're looking for a broad strokes (and this does contain minor spoilers for chapter 2, so be aware), The RA is a story about a well-intending resident assistant named Spencer who's told he's going to be overseeing one of Lakeview University's new coed floors. However, as move-in day commences, he realizes that somehow, he's the only representative of the male side of the coed divide. Moreover, almost every girl on his floor ranges from smoking to insanely hot -- as are his supervisor and the other four RAs in his building. 

As time passes, they become more and more a close knit community. At the same time, Higgins Hotties (as they dub themselves) become increasingly enamored with their RA. There's a lot of slow burn in The RA and often more sexual energy than sex, but it's (to my mind, at least) a weirdly wholesome and affectionate incidental-harem-building story. It makes me care about not just steamy masturbatey coed showers, but the smalltown girl who's distraught after being dumped by her long-distance back home boyfriend. There's girls casually changing with their doors open, but down in the lounge they've got educational programs about keeping safe from creeps. (We do know at least a couple creeps in the vicinity, after all.) There's roommate conflicts over nudity levels in the room, misunderstandings over the RA's open door policy, crying onto understanding lady boss's ample bosom in times of hardship, and group hugs with dozens of scantily clad college hotties in times of unity.

Anyway, this chapter is a tiny little toe in the door, and definitely the least engaging chapter to be honest. In the original release, I introduced Spencer as this curmudgeon who did his job for room and board and nothing else and resented the whole affair, but... he kinda sucked? As the story developed, he became this guy, the true believer who wants to save the college experience for each girl under his supervision one at a time. But I figured if I was going to re-share the revised chapter, may as well re-share with everybody instead of the folks who already saw a suckier version of this and may not be inclined to reread.

Anyway, the future chapters are much truer to the Spencer I wanted, so hopefully the editing will go smoother from here on out. I'm also considering putting some effort into selling digital copies directly and not only from the Amazon marketplace, because they've been dicking me over pretty hard lately so fuck them. If you have thoughts or feedback on that, I'd be happy to hear it.
