I asked chatgpt for a short beginners guide to cultivation stories, and this summary should be a good start.
Read on only if you really want to know.
Qi & Cultivation
- Qi is the universal energy that cultivators absorb to strengthen their bodies and souls.
- Progress is achieved through meditation, special techniques, and consuming elixirs.
Realms (Cultivation Levels)
- Cultivators progress through realms, the specific realms often vary from story to story.
- The higher the realm, the stronger the cultivator.
Pills, Treasures & Martial Arts
- Pills (Elixirs): Boost cultivation speed, provide healing or have other effects on the body.
- Spiritual Treasures: Powerful weapons or magical artifacts.
- Martial Arts Techniques: Supernatural skills learned through training or scrolls.
Sects & Clans
- Cultivators often join sects, clans, or academies for resources, training, and protection.
- Rivalries between different sects are common.
Heavenly Laws & Karma
- The universe enforces heavenly laws, rewarding or punishing cultivators for their actions.
- Evil cultivation can lead to Demonic Cultivation, while righteousness may lead to divine enlightenment.

Now that you've seen 2 episodes in sub and dub, what are your thoughts moving forward? And yes, this is a VERY goofy show, but I love it, lol!

To give an explanation of the pill thing, all of the basics for every Chinese cultivation story comes from Chinese mythology (like Wukong) so they work the same in every story. Think of pills kind of like potions from fantasy series, the only difference is that most pills are permanent instead of temporary, but they do have pills that last a short duration but give bigger buffs.
Some common effects of pills are healing injuries, restoring lost Qi, cure poison (as seen here), increasing lifespan, and assisting when breaking through to higher cultivation realms. But they just have pills for basically anything you could think of from basic beauty pills to super mega god pills.

Joe you should do a Chinese donghua openings reaction video, this gave me the idea and I think it would be fun.
