I get why you feel that way, but there's important context behind Bora’s actions. In the 1980s, South Korea was under a dictatorship, and students like Bora were the ones risking everything to fight for democracy. The protests weren't just to cause trouble — they were a real, dangerous stand for freedom, at a time when even speaking out could get you arrested or worse. Parents were terrified because they knew how brutal the government could be, but deep down, many were proud too. Thanks to the sacrifices of people like Bora, South Korea today is a free, thriving democracy. That’s why the show portrays it with so much sadness and respect — it wasn’t just rebellion; it was the painful price of the future we now see.

Yeah, I agree that When life gives you tangerines is an extended take on this episode of Reply 1988, and many lines and elements of Tangerines really reminded me so much of this lengendary 1988. Reply 1988 actually deals with more problems with more life lessons . I adore these 2 series so much since they are raw, heartfelt and I relate so much to both

Bora was protesting for good cause so it's not fair to be mad at her, worrying her parents is bad but not doing anything when your country is in ruins and staying quiet when your peers are fighting for better future would be as bad...and her father understands that too that's why at the end he said she didn't do anything wrong, he knows government is at fault and that students are protesting for good but he himself can't do anything in fear of losing job. Adults are scared because they have a lot to lose, kids are too young to be heard, only left are students who could make difference.
