The Apothecary Diaries S2 Ep. 23 Reaction [FULL]

Comments

I think Loulan cut Jinshi not for her mother, but because she knew that the guard would see his wound and immediately kill her. Her execution would likely be really awful, and she wanted to die on her own terms. She wasn't a complete villain. She befriended Mao Mao and made sure she was safe at the stronghold. Jinshi recogonized that allowing Loulan to cut his face she was going to die on her own terms, and so he allowed her to do it. That way she was able to dance one last time, and in the end she died with a smile.

I have a huge bottle of hopium/copium that I'm willing to share. 1. Suiren and Shisui are both smart. They've had contingency plans before. 2. Shisui actually lured them all to this place. She danced in front of that specific opening in the wall. Coincidence? I think not! 3. There was snow, but also a recent avalanche. Snow has a strong dampening effect. Could survive the fall. 4. She actually wounded Jinshi, ensuring that the other guards would be forced to kill her on the spot. (Likely by shooting her.) This ensures an opportunity from faking the death, rather than getting captured and publicly executed. 5. We don't see any actual blood when she gets shot in the chest. They had time to experiment with the guns, perhaps they could've developed a method of dampening the impact, like a primitive version of a bulletproof vest. (Remember how Maomao used thick bindings in season 1 to confront the head lady-in-waiting of Ah-Duo? It was a contingency plan to survive a potential stabbing.) 6. The deal she made with Jinshi, which would guarantee that he'd have to pardon her if she survives this "clearly" fatal wound. 7. We don't see Suiren at the later part of the episode, from the transitions after the fall onwards. Suspicious. 8. The glint in the bushes. 9. Shisui still has Jinshi's hairpin that Maomao gave her and that Shisui tucked into her clothing, roughly in the same spot where the final bullet landed. The hairpin is too important an item in the story so far for it to just be gone, clearly it's gonna be involved in future events. Too many coincidences for her to be dead. Surely. (If anyone has read the Light Novel, PLEASE DON'T TELL ME! I'm enjoying the mystery of whether or not she's actually dead right now and want to find out in the coming episode/seasons.)

Thinking back to the previous episode, the spot she got shot was where Mao Mao placed the hairpin
