Also, I am not sure you will see this but the stone at the end that klein looked and smiled at was also in the episode where he bought that stuff. Klein looked at it and said he wanted it but it was too expensive. Meaning neil probably bought it to gift to klein

He isn’t just not following the mystery pryer’s inspirations, he’s actively breaking an acting principle by doing harm (intentionally) to himself. It’s not necessarily a spoiler, but following the maxims of your sequence is pretty important as you rise in sequence, helping you accommodate the potion. I’ll also note that by the time he could hear and actively started using the Hidden Sage’s advice, he was pretty much doomed to lose control eventually, as low sequence beyonders have very little defense against that type of communication (like how Klein is constantly seeing the hornacis mountain range and the whispers.

It's basically backed up by the same type of spiritual energy based abilities that Beyonders use, so you literally can't go against your word (well you probably can, but want to take a gamble on if you can tattle before the penalty activates & kills you or whatever?). Also it can be argued that the Hidden Sage ISN'T an evil deity in the same sense as the Fallen Creator & the Primordial Demoness are. As stated in the lore dump, the Hidden Sage is basically knowledge itself that became sapient due to worship by the Moses Ascetic Order. The reason the Mystery Priers/Ascetic Order mfs frequently lose control is because their brain basically gets overloaded by the mf info-dumping their ass w/ an entire AI LLM directly beamed into their brains, which breaks you if you can't handle the raw data injection. Note how because Neil wished to use himself for the massive quantities of blood part of the artificial life ritual, the Hidden Sage basically assisted him by mutating him into a room-sized blob that can generate fucktons of blood (note how the wave of blood happened when he got angry at Dunn when they were standing in front of the door), so the intent was arguably benevolent, how could the embodiment of raw knowledge understand meaningless things like meatbag emotions etc? There's a reason Moses Ascetic Order is still relatively harmless out of all the "evil organizations", because of the Pathway motto + there not being any fr malice from the side of the Hidden Sage, just pure info dumps & drive to discover the Unknown.
