Couple things: A) You probably managed to recognize it, but Kanaguri is voiced by Satoshi Hino, best known for playing Ainz Ooal Gown in Overlord and Kyoujurou in Demon Slayer, but is also currently voicing Gris in Gachiakuta and will once again be voicing Fel in Campfire Cooking when that show returns in the upcoming fall season. B) The movie that Kanaguri referenced when he killed the bunch of guys during his introduction - called "Funny Games" - is actually quite interesting. The movie contains some meta commentary about how the audience of violent movies are complicit in the violence displayed by choosing to watch said movies. (The film itself contains somewhat brutal violence and torture of people.) It breaks the 4th wall several times, with the original even rewinding itself at one point, to invalidate events previously shown. C) Yes, Kanaguri does seem to be the guy who created most of those hitmen films that Sakamoto and co. have been watching. The "worldwide cult following" is simply because there are a lot of hitmen across the globe. D) You probably assumed it aswell, but Kanaguri likely had armor-piercing bullets in his gun, which allowed him to harm the pilot. E) At the end there, when Sakamoto was looking at the stitching, it almost felt like he would recognize it from whoever Akira's relative is. Seems like Akira was reparing the outfit for her relative and so far it appears like that woman is the person we saw with Sakamoto and Nagumo in that hospital scene last episode aswell as in the opening. Not that they actually chose this to be his conclusion, but it almost felt to me as if they were setting things up for that type of scene.
