Rather than being because it's a too powerful spell, the reason summoning a Spirit King needs chanting even for Monica is because it's not an equation spell. It's ritual spell, with showing proper respect to the spirit kings being included. There's also a HUGE mana control element and mana cost.
So while the chant is simple, you also need a LOT of mana and a LOT of control over said mana to be able to do it. But there is almost no element of equations in the process.
Monica needing that to deal with the vines is 1) because of the time constraint, 2) because her normal higher fire power might have destroyed the core of the barrier and thus made it impossible to rewrite it to stop the bomb (while the spirit king is able to casually torn away the plant spell without damaging the barrier core), and 3) because those vines were basically endless due to the spell of the Witch of Thorns from the Seven Sages.
Also, they didn't mention it in the anime, but this rewriting of the barrier also resulted in the barrier being destroyed after it fulfilled its new purpose of countering the spiralflame bomb. So while Louis came because the barrier was tempered with, it ended up fully disappearing while Louis was on the way flying there. Now he has to make a new one.

This episode has a mistranslation.
It says "She is one of the Seven Sages like me. The Witch of Thorns."
This sage is male. Monica didn't even say any pronoun.
She actually said "One of the Seven Sages like me. The Witch of Thorns."
In that world, Witch is gender neutral.
