Joe that's literally how SSS-tier 1v1s work, bro... many cases like Margo, in fact. To me it feels more & more like the Hiden king is an immortal who hijacks his descendants' bodies (hence why the Naming Ceremony is held in the crypt structure, which would normally be a weirdass place to hold such ceremonies). Based on some other series w/ similar implications, I'm gonna guess now that the Edosea is some type of prison colony zone, and the Hiden king (they are stated time & time again to be the oldest of the 5 races, and the king's monopoly on regalia seems to confirm this from the getgo) is the warden equivalent in it, w/ the Dark Beasts in covering every direction 100% acting as the prison walls so to speak. Let me guess that after you go far enough through the Dark Beast territories, suddenly there's normal territory everywhere WITHOUT Dark Beasts. Basically easiest normie example to use is probably AoT more or less, for the generic set-up at least. Want to bet that Dark Beasts are just genetically engineered lifeforms originally, designed by the mfs who set up the prison colony for whatever reason? Given how soft-science based magic seems to be, it's not that weird for a society based on magitek to be able to do genetic engineering & bio constructs using it after they advance far enough from the unga bunga times. Many such settings in fact. Actually I've read some xianxia webnovels w/ this type of set-up (be it underground mine for relics etc, or a metaphysical pocket dimension, it doesn't really matter that much, but the setting's early to mid plot progression is basically an intricately grafted illusion covering up the fact that the game was rigged from the set up, and after the mid-ish point is reached the MC of X series finds this out & inevitably busts through the set-up to the actual wider world that exists outside of these elaborate giga-scale locations), so my alarm bell is ringing so damn much after what we learned this episode, combined w/ the little lore drops etc we've gained over the prior episodes

He died on the spot, then was resurrected using Dark Ichor. But unlike Clevatess, who revealed himself to Alicia and made her follow his commands, the Lord that controls Drel actually does so secretly to corrupt his mind. I mean, they could always pull a fast one on us and add a twist to this, but I'm pretty sure I got this one correct.
