Mate of mine was a stoker on a Royal Navy nuclear sub (I love that RN tradition - if you control the heat of the boiler you're still a stoker! Images of him whistling while shovelling a pile of uranium... 😁). He was definitely the right mentality for life in a sub, incredibly decent guy.

Very interesting to hear about the Russian study. Maybe when we eventually become human-AI hybridisations, we'll be able to transcend our human need for social interaction. I also hope that day never comes.

There was a similar christmas event failure to the Glasgow one near me, somewhat further south in Milton Keynes. I wonder if it was the same fraudster. Amused to hear that news of it got as far as Philly.
There was a youtube piece about the radio tower. It looked like whenever the tower went, the transmitter was out of action long beforehand. Might be more to hear on that.
