I've only read some brief excerpts about life in antebellum Dixie land, but after reading them I became convinced that the Dixie way of life was just exported to the west coast after the civil war ended. Manifest destiny is really tied up in Dixie mythos as well so I think they got their way even though they couldn't take their favorite property system with them.

One more of these badass dad showing you cool action movies at a too-young age. My dad was a big Peckinpah head and my mom went to visit her family for a weekend when I was about five.
