I have to agree with Terrance when it comes to Yachty’s “Shifting the culture” bar. Not to attack the younger/ newer generation but a mass majority of them are stuck in a bubble. It’s cool that Yachty’s tried something “new” or different than the usual on his album this year… but that “new” isn’t new at all. Experimental/psychedelic rock has been around for a long time. All because a rapper is giving his take on the rock genre (an OK take at that) doesn’t mean you’re shifting culture lol. You didn’t pioneer a new sound. Introduced it to a new audience of kids that may not listen to rock? Sure… but that’s it. I could be wrong, but he’s not even playing any instruments on the album lol just providing his vocals and choosing from beat selection. The youth today is impressed by almost anything “different” but want to make think-pieces on others just because they have a more broadened musical knowledge. Again, no hate. I admire Yachty for trying different things, even rapping on different beats like the one for this song. If we’re being fr though, dude is just now gaining a mainstream resurgence in popularity for changing his sound for an OK album and because of his ties to Drake & now J. Cole.
