I feel like it’s supposed to be merging stories from history and make them relatable to today’s times. Yes, we know there wasn’t light bulbs and weed smoking back then etc, but there are a ton of movies where there are discrepancies like that and they don’t get nit picked. My brother says he hates seeing slave movies etc but when Django came out he loved it cuz of the comedy and satire aspect that was added. It was something different just like this is. Lastly, our generation isn’t like our parents where they just believed everything cuz it’s what their parents and grandparents did/believed. We are more challenging. When I got a certain age I started questioning a lot of those superficial stories in the Bible and it led me to lead a more “spiritual” life instead of a religious life. I don’t see an issue with him asking “you really believe that?” cuz that’s what I did when I was 9/10 years old. Can’t wait for the next review bro! 💯

I think you can still cover all of those just no transition visual transitions and just go right into it. Loved the analysis though.

I haven’t seen the movie but that part with the main character not believing Mary could just be a reference to how most people were during that time. in Matthew, even Joseph finds it hard to believe her until an angel tells him personally that she’s having a virgin birth. if most people in that era didn’t even believe that Jesus was God after his miracles, of course they wouldn’t believe Mary

But I may give this film a chance once it hits streaming like Netflix or something. It is just hard to look past the blasphemy in the movie and it’s disheartening to see they decided to make a movie like this instead of a movie on Jesus showing how he was black and actually showing and displaying truth. They could’ve made a movie on king David or Solomon who was the richest person in the world. There is so much beautiful black history in the Bible and I hate that we don’t try to display it on the big screen. The chance to give us a movie on black history other than slavery was missed and it just makes it hard for me to look past that.
