Attack on Titan FINAL EPISODE EARLY UNCUT ACCESS

Comments

There are a number of things that tells us that Eren NEVER had a choice in committing genocide or changing any other future events that he had seen, for I believe he was being controlled by several elements. This is going to be a LONG explanation along with claims and actions from the show to back it up, but I really believe that my theory holds up after watching this show 10 times, (I think I'm at the point of insanity) so bare with me. Let's start with when Eren kissed Historia's hand back in season 3, he sees the full picture of what happened when his dad, Grisha killed the royal family. So we got to ask ourselves, why did he freeze up in misery and give us that horrible facial expression? Because it was horrible, yes, but also remember, he had already seen what had happened when he first got chained up in the underground chapel and got touched by Rod Reiss and Historia Reiss, however not the full picture, otherwise why would he react like that when he kissed Historia's hand? That is because THAT time he saw the full story, that it was actually HIM (Eren) who pushed his dad into slaughtering the royal family seen in that iconic and dreadful episode 20 of S4. Why I'm so sure that he saw EXACTLY that when he kissed Historia's hand is because seconds before it Historia puts a necklace over Eren: https://www.reddit.com/r/attackontitan/comments/1887urn/this_cant_be_a_coincidence_historias_necklace/ It resembles the titan he becomes after activating the rumbling, adding a little hint, ONLY to rewatchers, that he is about to see his own future. Now add the glimpses they showed in S4 E20 of Eren kissing Historia's hand as well as his facial expression afterwards, and it is pretty clear that he had seen THAT future at that point. Why this matters A LOT is because this is a clue to that the future Eren sees is inevitable, that it is set in stone, that it can't be changed regardless of him knowing when and how it will happen. Think about it, why would he do something he would despise himself for? Yes, he wants to liberate Paradis and the people he loves, but he has also explained at a few other points that he tries to change the future he has seen to no avail. Now add the scene from S4 E29 where Eren saves the kid thief getting beat up, regardless of ranting about that he doesn't get to act righteously when he knows that he will kill him after activating the rumbling. He carries the kid on his back back to his home and then says "Appears the future doesn't change", hinting that even if Eren is willing to change the future which he has seen the results just does not change. If you also add the scene from when Eren was hugging and talking to the founder, Ymir to the equation where Eren said "It was you who led me here wasn't it?", hinting that it may had been Ymir's doing of showing him an inevitable in order to lead him to her so Eren could save her from her 2000 year lone slavery. Finally, remember that episode where we finally got to see Grisha's side of the story in season 3? After the reveal of Grisha's past Eren wakes up and realizes that he has been linked to his dads memories and proceeds to tell everybody about them. Why do you think Eren Kruger told Grisha to save Eren, Mikasa and Armin when they were yet to be born? Why do you think Eren Kruger said ALMOST word by word the same things as Eren Jaegar said to Grisha in order to push him to kill the royal family? "You keep moving forward. Even if it kills you. Even after death.". Then think about how emotionally detached Eren became towards everything happening in the present after gaining his dads memories. I believe the reason is, not only that he had found out that he had X amount of years to live (The Curse of Ymir), but also that he had seen the future through Grisha's memories of his own future memories thanks to the special ability of the Attack Titan, to see the memories of future inheritors. The more knowledgeable he becomes of the future, the more troubled he becomes in the present. A little tangent to the above (I'm sorry): This also begs the question, was the reason Kruger and Grisha told us the following because of Eren?: "Despite of the era, the Attack Titan never bowed down to any authority, it pushed forward in order to seek out freedom". Since every inheritor of the Attack Titan could see the memories of future inheritors, every previous one could always have seen Eren's memories (since he is the final inheritor), the memories of someone that is "a slave to freedom", and if memories are what shape us, that's that (e.g. Bertholdt's memories inside Armin making him love Annie). MY CONCLUSION: The future which Eren sees is not your typical future-concept which you see in other shows where someone knowing the future will change the outcome of it if they wish to. In this case the future which he has been shown is set in stone, it can't be changed, it's absolute. What I'm trying to say that Eren is not only "a slave to freedom" (a slave to his own ambitions) but also a slave to his foresight and perhaps a slave to Ymir's will to unite and be free. This is thanks to him having the combination of the Attack Titan, which can see the memories of it's future inheritors, and the Founding Titan that allows him to send and receive memories via paths, a combination of powers which is shown to be very manipulative. Not expecting this to be clear to everyone reading, but if you love this show at least half of what it I do and you haven't watched rewatched it, I highly recommend you to do so. There are a number of other reactors who have watched the show who has missed a lot of details and so have you too, which is completely normal so don't get me wrong, nothing to be ashamed of there. It just means that this show has too many layers and connections to notice and appreciate at first watch. I can tell you that there are lots of other stuff which I haven't talked about or even noticed myself which add to the beauty of this masterpiece. But instead of telling you about them I want you to find those details on your own because that is when you truly get your mind blown. If you got this far I thank you for reading, shoutout to the author of AoT and in my opinion the GOAT of storytelling, Hajime Isayama.

Ya Boy

Congratulations on completing the journey! If you want more AoT content you should definitely... #1: Watch the attack on titan OVAs (OVA is basically a side story episode) as they add context to characters and are amazing as well. #2: Watch the Final season part 2 ending ("Akuma no Ko") WITH lyrics as they are considered to be Eren's words to Mikasa. #3: Watch Attack on Titan suite project emu, an astounding live performance of banger AoT soundtracks. I think you should do reactions for all of them, but you do you.

Eren

Fun fact: The creator of Attack on Titan confirmed himself, that Mikasa is a VERY good singer. And the women you hear singing the final song is Mikasa’s VA. Oh and if you want to feel a little more sad, Mikasa wrote on Eren’s grave "Here lies my dearly beloved, the love of my life, forever drifting off to sleep" Yes she loved only him and was buried next to him 🥲

Eric Newton
