All foreigners in Korea get an ARC, Alien registration card. It's our ID while we are on a visa. I have one, I have my Korean license and my passport. All work as IDs for everything. Sana meant the company kept her passport and ARC, which are required for them to proxy registry nearly everything so that they can assure her personal private information is secured with the companies that she must share it with. This is common for celebrities. If she lost her wallet or ID anywhere that ARC number or or resident ID number as it is called would be sold to stalker fans over and over and over again. So it is for her security and protection that the company is holding both. The passport is needed to book tickets and make sure that she has it when she needs to leave the country. They hold the Korean idol's passports too as well as their resident ID cards. This is not something they are subjecting just the foreign members to.
