The set was shot here near Funchal, Madeira and what an absolutely amazing place that is. We're planning on going back asap.
The shoot was done in mostly bright sunlight and I found an excellent shaded area near some black volcanic rocks to shoot in.
Shade can work great on a sunny day especially when you work around the edges of the shadow and catch any reflected light that might be around.
The beach was pretty much black but there was a ton of reflected light off the sea and the foamy water which was lapping up around our feet. I knew right away as soon as Aurora walked into the dark crevice (seen in the title image) that this would be great. The light coming off her skin was really magic and against the dark basalt background things were looking pretty jaw dropping.
Very rarely do I edit two versions of a set but I did with these because both colour and B&W are great. My personal choice is the B&W but I many enjoy colour so here they are!
Shot 1 is analog, the rest digital.
