Lizard Soup created this bear-snep with me with my old drawings to start. Look at those detailed notes, my goodness.
Literally only first thought of as a yeti because of my crush on HD Spyro 3's Bentley. how could I make this in my game I thought. In its old RPG form, the game would have Jagger be a party member who would use ice magic. Yeah, that's stereotypical. I really liked the horns though, so he kept the horns.
Jagger of course was heavily inspired by music and unfortunately, I can't remember his name's purpose other than it sounding cool. There would be tons of puns for his name but it stops at his mom and dad, which are references very VERY few ppl are gonna get so here goes: Betty is because in a Paul Simon song You Can Call Me Al a line goes "I can call you Betty, and Betty when you call me you can call me Al" which is some reference to something... anyway the name Al is not revealed yet but it is too obscure for anyone to get anyway. His grandparents may or may not be Arethra and Elvis, which are real names btw. His sister was supposed to be Celine (ala Celine Dion) but it was too on-the-nose especially for a mean person.
I feared Jagger wouldn't be an interesting char because of his intentional resting insertnamehere face but he was always gonna be deep. I decided to go almost full-serious with him as he is more mature, and thus fits well into a more mature set of events. A fair amount of his design is thanks to Wolfers, and he prolly wouldn't be half the bear-snep he is without Wolfers, so be sure to hug him and thank him for his ideas! This goes from massage therapy to his accent and most of the things from his past.
His brother Jynx is named such because that is a reference to Mario RPG's Jagger/Jinx combo of characters. The similarities end at the names, and the I became a Y on purpose as to not be too on-the-nose. And finally, you can see Jagger used to have a long tail. And now you know more about him!
