As you likely know, he is based on the Dimetrodon (hence the Dimetro Den pun) and he went through quite a few changes/roles!
He was supposed to be the main hero of the in-game cartoon at some point as well as a love interest for Zobbe for those who like synth-ish beasts, but I felt he would be better as a silent (but really cool) sidekick.
He truly is one hell of a hybrid because I wanted a cool beast but also a tar monster somewhere, so that is why he is covered in it.
After becoming the real deal, he needed a purpose, so my buddy Wolfers helped devise Dimitri's artistic abilities. He needed one final oomph, and since Gab loved to draw fan art, I thought it would be a neat nod to have Dimitri "do" the Gab art in-game.
He is supposed to have gremlin energy, which is why he is hunched regardless. The "head rattle" sound was made by me using an agogo instrument just repeating. He's silent because visuals talk louder than words. Whoa!
