Covid-19 Fallout Hurts

So there's this virus running around, locking everything up.  The university has decided, correctly I believe, that it would be foolhardy, to say the least, to go back to face-to-face classes as usual.  This means most of our courses will have to go online.  Now that sounds pretty easy.  Just ask the students.  Clearly online teaching is a lot easier than in person teaching.  Except ... all the notes that you used to be able to fill in from a few lines of powerpoint slides using your experience and memory now has to be put down in PDFs in a lengthy and coherent manner.  Lots and lots of diagrams and pictures, too.  Only one course so far, about 2/3 done and 400+ pages in.  Two full courses and what's left of this one to go before September.  It's amazing how much time that takes.  8-10 hour days, 7 days a week for the past month.  I hope there's something left in the batteries to actually teach the simple courses in September ;-)

Hopefully, I'll be able to get some non-computer science writing and some art done in the next months, too.  Or I'll likely go crazy.

Honestly in my community here in Australia , I've noticed a lot of mum and pop stores have actually closed down . It's really depressing to see . Unemployment has skyrocketed And the minimum wage has been raised Which I think is a good thing but there are side effects , Businesses that are still running are way less likely to hire people . But ironically I'm one of the individuals who has actually benefited from the coronavirus Because I am an essential worker ;-D . But like always I am thanking you for the awesome Amazing artwork and content .

Other school’s computer science courses are going to appear on-line. Some will be the same as yours, other’s different. Cross-licensing with your colleagues in nearby, or companion, or provincial, or almost any competently-qualified school, department, or university would provide a plethora of choices, giving you a break, by doing for similarly licensed professors what they too do not have enough time to complete, or cram into a 24 hour day.…
