Lily was walking in the woods. She loved the woods. Today, when she entered the meadow that was where the old beaver pond had been, she was met by the strangest of sights. A pair of small people were having a picnic. Green skinned, long pointed noses, overly large eyes. She, as a rule, didn't bother other people she ran across in the forest. The forest was her alone time, her recovery time.
"Please join us! Do you like chicken legs?" called the female, holding a huge chicken leg up.
"Uh, sure," responded Lily, not wanting to be unsociable.
As she walked towards the pair, she began to feel distinctly strange. Looking down, she discovered two things. First, she was completely nude. Her jogging suit and everything else had completely disappeared. Second, she no longer had legs. Or more precisely, her legs had been replaced by a huge chicken.
As she took a couple of tentative steps towards the strange couple, they quickly packed up their picnic, stood hand in hand and faded from view.
Lily stopped, staring at the place they'd been. Looking down at her new body, she wondered what she was to do next. How would she live? What would she do at work? There wasn't a lot of space behind the machine she ran at the box plant. She needn't have worried for, another of the green skinned creatures appeared before.
"We can't very well leave you here," it stated. "Children can be so uncivilized at times."
The world faded around Lily and she found herself in an even stranger world. This world's plants had a distinct reddish cast as did the sunlight itself.
"Welcome to Gwyll," it stated. "Or as you folks call it: Proxima Centauri b"
