Haliya, We Have A Problem
Added 2019-10-14 16:05:21 +0000 UTCKatrina's head buzzed. She recognized that buzz having gone through one of the early teleporters. It meant it wasn't quite tuned correctly. The last thing she remembered was walking down the alley from work with Haliya.
She looked about her. Haliya was in worse shape than she was. Shape? Haliya had changed. She was a dogtaur now ... a hybrid of herself and a huge fluffy tailed dog. Katrina wasn't up on her breeds ... maybe a Golden Retriever (but probably something else). Then another unwelcome thought.
A quick check confirmed the thought. She, too, was a dogtaur. She stumbled a bit as she made her way unsteadily to Haliya's prone form. She shook her friend's shoulders and Haliya slowly came around.
"Haliya, we have a problem," she stated quietly.
Haliya pushed herself up and took in her friend's and then her own transformation.
"WTF! What happened?"
"I think we were snatched by teleporter. A really old one by the way my head feels."
"Those rumours are true then?"
"That's where those strange new humanoid pets are coming from."
"I just thought ..."
"Yeah, me too."
"But we have a bigger problem than even that."
"Bigger than being Dogtaurs? Being snatched off the street?"
Haliya's face held disbelief. What could be bigger than that?
"Um," began Katrina uncertainly. "They've done something to us."
"We're damned dogtaurs!" responded Haliya.
Taking a deep breath, Katrina pushed on.
"You're a female dogtaur," she stated clinically.
"And you're ..."
"They've given me a male dog's body."
"Uh. And that means?"
"Well," she said scratching behind one ear. "It's like this. I think you are coming into heat."
