Woman: Erieye
Emu: Momotte 2
Tim was so much fun to be around. He and Viktoria were quite the item at work parties. They made time for each other as often as they could. Even if it was only a quick shared lunch or a walk together, the times were special. Viktoria had definitely found her love mate in Tim and it seemed that he felt similar. In any normal relationship, this was expected. Friends first, then lovers, then -- well Viktoria hoped -- marriage.
The day before her next transformation, she and Tim had stayed out late. There had been dinner and a movie and then a long walk, hand-in-hand along the seashore. It had been magical. When they both decided to call it a day, Viktoria realized just how late it was. Tim lived clear across the city and would have to drive tired for nearly an hour to get home. She insisted that he stay at her place and he accepted. It hadn't been the first time.
That night, things seemed to align perfectly for the lovers and, rather than sleeping, the night (or was it morning?) had ended in a very intimate session of love-making in Viktoria's bed. It had been most intense and Viktoria had loved every minute right up to her own climax.
Both had reluctantly gotten up the next morning. Fortunately it was the weekend so they could stay in bed together late. They continued their lover's play off and on throughout the rest of the day. Viktoria only stopped Tim's advances after supper.
"It's time again," she said dejectedly.
"I understand," Time replied. "I sure wish there was some way to stop this curse."
"Me, too. Every damned month. Like clockwork."
"I wonder what it will be this time?" Tim asked, a hint of worry in his voice.
"Something different each time, Tim"
"I've seen a few of the changes. You've been all kinds of things. Fortunately, it doesn't last too long."
"Just a single day. A day and a half at the worst."
Tim rolled out of bed to go make them a quick snack. He loved Viktoria, of course -- more than he could recall loving any other woman in his life. By the time he returned with the sandwiches and juice, Viktoria was sitting up in bed twisted so that she could look at her buttocks.
"Another bird," she announced.
Tim looked at what she was looking at. Sure enough, her lower back, the back of her legs and her buttocks were definitely growing feathers. Grey with dark undertones. The feathers looked strange to Tim. They were definitely different than any he'd seen on local birds. They were -- well -- more feathery. Kind of downy almost but, when he touched them, they were fairly stiff. Viktoria just shook her head. She had no idea what kind of bird it was either.
Over the next few hours, her lower body expanded, extending backward into a very definite bird shape, and was soon covered by the grey feathers on the back. Her belly feathers grew in. These were finer and definitely dark without the grey overtones. These finer feathers grew upward to her waist and beyond. The growth of feathers finally stopped midway up her stomach. Viktoria's legs were also changing. Every so slowly they moved backward and grew larger and stronger. Her toes fused until she was left with only three, scale covered toes. Her foot then split cleanly into three long toes. It was definitely a large bird foot. The final change on each foot was the growth of a rather nasty looking claw on the end of each toe.
She carefully got up and tried her new body. Every time, the curse had made it possible for her to learn the new body quickly. That was something to be thankful for. She strutted around the bed to hug Tim who had left the bed and had been sitting in an armchair by the window.
"It's done," she announced unnecessarily.
Tim looked at his girlfriend. She looked like some kind of strange alien bird. Her wings, which she could flap feebly, were definitely not for flying. Viktoria put her arms around him and kissed him and then straightened up with a sudden cramp.
"What's wrong?" asked a worried Tim.
"Don't know"
Viktoria had never had anything like this with any other transformation. She straightened up, and waited a few minutes. Another, even stronger cramp, struck. Viktoria quickly hopped up on the bed. There was something she needed to do but she had no idea what. Another even large cramp was followed by the feeling that something was sticking out of her body at the rear.
"Tim, what's happening?!"
Tim was at a loss for words but he joined her side quickly. He stroked her hair (she loved that as it was so relaxing) but she batted his hand away.
"Check here!" she demanded lifting her feathered tail.
"You've got a green roundish thing coming out," he announced.
"A green roundish thing?"
"Yeah! It's large. Really big. Maybe the size of a football or maybe bigger."
"A what?"
The what, after a few more cramps, turned out to be a huge greenish egg. As Tim had noted it was considerably larger than a football. Over the next few hours, Viktoria forced out three more. Finally, she knew she was finished. She nestled herself on tome of them sitting on the bed.
The next morning, Tim watched as Viktoria shrank back to her original form. The four eggs, however, didn't vanish.
"I just had a thought," Tim began somewhat uncertainly. "We made love several times before you laid these. You don't suppose they're, um, fertile, do you?"
"Oh my God!" Viktoria rolled off from between her eggs. "I sure hope not. What if they hatch into bird-kids or something? How would I explain that? I'd end up in a damned lab somewhere sure enough!"
"We could just break them ..." suggested Tim, not at all sure how Viktoria would take it.
Viktoria was of two minds about the whole thing. She didn't want a bunch of birds for children but they were her eggs regardless and she felt a strong maternal tie to them. She had no intention of sitting on them for the long weeks hatching would take either. She had a life to live. They tried the candling trick but there weren't any cloudy spots. In the end, she decided that they hadn't been fertile. She and Tim carefully broke the huge eggs in the bathtub and flushed the contents down the drain. As the last of the yolk washed down the drain, she decided they had better be a lot more careful about their lovemaking in the future. They might not be so lucky next time
