Shadowhunters 2x1 REACTION; I'm too fragile for this chaos!

I'm so stressed, I don't know why I thought I would get some sort of breather, but we really went full throttle with this episode and I have so many emotions and thoughts!

Yeah Valantine definitly save Jace as a manipulation tool

That's spot on with Jace just leaving without saving Valantine. Yeah, Maryse really went in with that one

I know I'm being harsh on him, if it were me, I would probably just freeze up or run away. Jocelyn trying to kill Jace was a really bad move on her part (I know why she did it but still, bad timing). But looking at it from the rational point of view, Jace is supposed to be a soldier and he saw what Valentine was doing. Even if he loved Valentine as his long lost father he shouldn't have helped him. I wouldn't expect him to kill him or assist in any way in doing so in his confused state. But just a few episodes ago he was beating himself up for not killing Valentine when he had the opportunity. He tried to kill him again on the ship. Surely he didn't change his mind just because he made him spaghetti ;) So in conclusion, Jocelyn is at fault, yet another reason for me to dislike her :D Also (break line), I forgot to mention that Maryse comparing Jace to cancer that needs to be cut out was brutal. Boy has it rough (but I still don't like him).

I do see that for sure! but at the same time, this is literally a man who you know has done nothing but cause destruction and hatred and you didn't just jump back into the portal? like I get Jace jumping into the portal because he's being shot at, but I don't really see him saving him and pulling him through regardless of Valentine saving him, which he only did, I'm sure, so he can continue using him! 🩶

what i'm thinking regarding Jace saving Valantine is at that moment, the mother he has been told abandoned him (Valantine telling him), he probably felt really bad about it but maybe some where in his heart he was still holding unto the fact that Valantine is a liar and that Jocelyn didn't raise him because she thought he was dead....but then the first thing Jocelyn does when he meets her was her trying to kill him, and no matter how rational a person is, at that moment I don't think anyone would not be affected by that and act irrationally. Also, the fact that Valentine stepped in to save him, and also the fact that he now believes Valantine was right about his mom and that even though Valantine is evil, he is still a dad to him, he loves him and views him as valuable and is proud of him....basically a better parent than his so called mom that everyone (mainly Clary) speaks good about, and a mom who doesn't want him. And all this happened in a quick succession and so there is no much rational thinking to his actions and that's honestly very realistic.....Jace is really going through it Having said that when he is in a better state of mind, he'll probably be more rational and realise both his parents ain't shit and disown their ass and realise his friends, Alec, Izzy, Clary are really the family the loves him and treats him like a human being not a weapon like Valentine (even though he does love him) or non exsistent like Joclyn.

I have no idea what's going on in Jace's head this episode. I understand that he's confused because he found out that Valentine is his father and now that he experimented on him. Maybe he thinks that he's supposed to be evil (but what about warlocks? one of their parents is literally a demon, does Jace think that they are all inherently bad?). But in what world it's ok to save wounded Valentine?! What is he doing? Going away with Valentine when he threatened his friends and now killing that vampire could be explainable, but I have no idea how he can expect to get out of this. Also, I dislike Jocelyn (although I feel it's probably because of the actress) and Aldertree (or however it's spelled) is a smug bastard. Such a tough episode to like for me :) Also (whenever you see this word imagine a new line, I still haven't figured out how to add a new line on the phone), from what I understand the show got new writers for the second season but the first few episodes were already written by the previous writers.
