omg the break up is soooooo brutal, it shatters my heart. Alec trying to make magnus believe that the break up is real- UGH, it's so sad 😭

2023-07-29 20:15:04 +0000 UTCThis break up is absolutely brutal. It took me 2 days to be able to concentrate on something else. What got to me is the way you can tell by Alec's tone of voice which is coming from his heart and what is said to make the break final. When he says something from his heart, his voice is slightly higher and the things meant to break it off is said in a deeper tone. When Magnus was kissing him and begging him, he kept his eyes closed and did not look at Magnus. This was as devastating for him as it was for Magnus. Unfortunately Magnus did not know it was for his good. I might never recover from this trauma.

Magnus wanting to forget? :D honestly I don't know! And it's fine, I think I could look at a situation from any angle - even from Clary's if I had to (although I don't want to). And knowing the end I'm not too much bothered whether someone is team Alec or team Magnus. We are all winners!

2023-07-20 14:21:14 +0000 UTCI actually love this though because we are both biased towards the other character which makes our conversations about the episodes so fun- you’re absolutely going to be like ‘you’re joking’ after watching 3x19 with me, I’m sure 🫢🤣 I’m preparing for it now. I honestly think I love Alec and care for him so much because I relate to him the most. I see myself a lot in the way that he throws himself into the people he loves, no matter what, whereas Magnus has always been a little more cautious. And Alec will literally do anything to try to get people feeling the best they can be- like he said, it’s the type of pain he could get over, whereas he may never get over not having his magic. I honestly really do think it’s that. I think Alec would have to like kill Magnus for me to be angry with him 🤣🤣🤣

2023-07-20 14:12:16 +0000 UTCI wonder what would Alec have to do to make you stop being so biased towards him :D In the first half of the show Alec was my favorite character. I found him so interesting (and nice to look at, let's be honest), I loved the growth - he always tried to say what he felt was right but when others were like "whatever, let's do this instead", he just went with the flow. He let others walk all over him and then just took the blame when it all blew in their face. I really liked Matt's take on it in the last interview you reacted to - at this point he should just plan for his plans failing because everyone is doing whatever they want anyway. But somewhere along the third season Magnus overtook him for me. I think he's got much more interesting storyline now than Alec. I still love them both but now my bias is showing and this break up... I have so many conflicting feels! Alec should've just used the gaping loophole and get back with Magnus after he got his magic back - technically he DID break up with him. Asmodeus never stated what should follow the break up. He just said "end your relationship". And Magnus should just punch Alec in the face for going behind his back and deciding for him (and then forgive him).

But I do think that Alec showing he was trying would've went a long way for Magnus- ugh, I love them 😭

2023-07-20 03:42:32 +0000 UTCyeah, the only up was Becky let's be real 🤣 my heart literally shattered, I knew he was only saying it so that he could successfully break up with him, because he knew that would hurt, and again, it made me so sad, but we all know how I feel about Alec so I could quite literally never hate him. but I was pained FOR SURE. the fact that magnus was begging- NOPE. Also, I'm with you, I just have such a hard time really caring/being invested in Clace and Jonathan, but the acting has been so excellent!! 🩶

Lol Magnus opened up, (which we know from way back in 2x15 is hard for him to do). He showed Alec how devastated he was about losing his magic. And now he thinks Alec is leaving him because his spark went out. Ouch. Though I adore Alec for his martyrdom and devotion, he made the wrong choice in going to Asmodeus without telling Magnus. He did it for the right reasons at least. Alec doesn’t quite understand how much Magnus loves him. Please stick with it!

The break up was probably the most horrible thing for me from the whole show. The fact that Alec used the spark analogy made me hate him a little. I honestly had no idea how he could make the break up believable and he just went for the kill. Ugh. And the fact that Magnus was pleading with Alec. THE Magnus Bane reduced to begging... my heart! And the Clary, Jace and Jonathan trio... I don't care anymore. Kat's acting was perfect (I loved the tiny smile when she woke up with demon eyes) but dark Clary is just annoying and Jonathan's end game of making his sister love him is pathetic. At some point he should just accept that it's not gonna happen and move on.

2023-07-19 15:57:15 +0000 UTCOkay yeah, this episode is RIDICULOUSLY painful. But you have to hand it to their acting, it was incredible. My formatting will continue to be off for these next few days because again, I don't have access to my computer while I'm in Spain. So here we go! 1.) This is kind of a random fact, but in the books, Asmodeus actually doesn't look fully human. His skin is very pale, he doesn't have hair, just vines of thorns coming from his head, and his eyes are cat eyes. I assumed they casted Jack because of his resemblance to Harry (in the sense that they both have similar expressions, and stockier builds), but in the books, Magnus actually looked very similar to his mom, instead of Asmodeus. The only main characteristic they share is their eyes,.which in the show, they both have glamoured (something not in common with the books). 2.) Simon says all Warlocks have an animal feature as a mark, that's not necessarily true. Ragnor's green skin, and Cat and Max's blue skin are not features of an animal. Neither are the purple eyes Malcom had, and the blue hair two other warlocks had in the books. It just so happens that the most common marks are animal marks. Wings, animal eyes, animal ears, and horns all are shared with animals. Also, no warlock has to have ONE mark. They can have several. The most we know a warlock having is four. Ragnor has green skin, white hair, an extra set of knuckles, and white horns. Cat has two, Max has three, and Magnus has two (in the books he has cat eyes, and he doesn't have a belly button). Very few characters have just one, but an example is a warlock named Hypatia Vex, who has stars for pupils. 3.) Writing this knowing you've seen 3x20... In the books, this second break up never happens. Magnus and Alec broke up once. At the epilogue of the fifth book, and they got back together at the end of the sixth, after a confrontation with Asmodeus. They lived a happy life together from then on. 4.) The song that plays in the background of the break up is Fear of the Water by Syml 5.) Maia said Jorda could be her bata because that's what Simon called the second in command post back in season 2 (or maybe 3a, I can't remember). 6.) Not a book-to-screen fact but I your texts after the break up were so funny. I THOUGHT YOU WERE JOKING WHEN YOU TOLD ME YOU ACTUALLY HAD TO GO INTO TIME OUT🤣. Also, you don't hate us. You adore us ☺️

2023-07-19 14:01:29 +0000 UTCSO to go more in depth on what I said about the season 4 storyline. Supposedly Asmodeus would have manipulated Magnus because of the breakup with Alec. Since Magnus is so broken because of it it would have made perfect sense to do. The next 2 episodes shows a glimpse of that storyline but since the show announced that it was ending they changed that storyline in episode 20 so that it wraps up the entire series by the end of the last 2 episodes that were added.
