Shadowhunters 3x19 REACTION; these flashbacks will be the death of me.

OHMYGOD. I literally do not care about Clace and Jonathan, like, at all right now. oops. we need to fix Malec STAT.

With regard to you not crying because Alec was not going through it, I think we didn't see it because Alec's shadowhunters training kicked in and he went back to Season 1 Alec where he compartmentalize his feelings because he had the Jace and Clary mess he had to deal with. This way of dealing with a trauma is bad as he can revert to the snarky cold Alec we met in Season 1 that is slowly dying inside. He is so closed off that even his parabatai does not know the extent of his hurt. As for checking in with Magnus, it is only a day. In that day Alec had to deal with the mess at the Clave because New York is involved, the heavenly fire business and figuring out how to get a sword from a rock, the breach of the subcells with Jonathan escaping, the drama with Team Evil. Our boy had a lot to deal with. He probably assumed that Magnus would go to Catarina. In his conversation you could see the effort it takes to even talk about Magnus. My precious boy with his bruised soul, trying to fix the world.

I- you make a fair point on the whole Alec not sending someone to check on him, not cool- I'm with you, in no way, shape or form, is Clace the main couple of this show, that's simply a lie. omg the SUPERMAN SCENE. I just loved the acting in that scene too, Simon talking about something he was passionate about and excited to share with her, my heart! omg, cannot wait for the bloopers!! 🩶

I have no illusion about how deep or blind the Alec love is. So I was prepared for just about anything. I'm not at all surprised that you didn't change your views now when it was Magnus crying :D Honestly, there's no hope for you. At least you've picked a character worth the obsession :) My heart went out for Magnus in this episode, the flashbacks were a low blow and yet... I can see that Magnus was a tad melodramatic about the whole situation. Yes, the kick came when he was already at his lowest but erasing his memories? Alec was not his first rodeo (and if noone kills him then not even the last). Ugh, enough. I dislike that Alec didn't send anyone to check up on Magnus - isn't he basically homeless now that he can't go back to the institute? Let's give a round of applause for Asmodeus and how devious he actually is - he made Alec isolate Magnus from everyone by breaking up with him and at the same time making him even more vulnerable. So Asmodeus can sweep in now and play the sympathetic savior who gave Magnus his magic back. That's a true villain - make your victim think that you're the hero. Also, can we stop pretending that Clary and Jace are the show's main couple? Malec got an episode named after them, Malec discussed moving together and now we saw that they even hinted at planning kids, they got so many flashbacks throughout the show, they even got their own video montage now... Clace got derailed right from the beginning by thinking that they were siblings and now they have a threat of a real incest through Jonathan. They had two dates - one was awkward because of Maya and Simon and the second one ended with Jace unconscious and Clary kissing Jonathan. Like seriously, anyone, give me an instance where their relationship progressed in the right direction. I dare you. I can't care about something I haven't seen. Is it the show? Were they treated unfairly in favor of Malec? And why am I not surprised that Clary thought it's a good idea to get high when they were trying to kidnap the seelie queen? :D She didn't hesitate for a second. What a plan. I don't really care about their endgame of finding the sword, it all seems so pointless to me. But I did like how Clary was undecided whether to help Jace or not and then go and fight with him. And Jace trying to convince Clary to go back with him and she telling him that this is who she is and sending him back. I was actually invested in that scene. But I do find it ridiculous that those three (two at first) managed to overpower the whole "elite guard" while being heavily outnumbered. And lastly, I adored the Superman analogy. It was a little bit cheesy but it did apply to them and it was such a Simon thing to do. I'm happy :) Btw, I haven't realized how many bloopers were from this episode! Knowing that actually makes watching this emotional abuse quite entertaining :D

But hey, in the most indirect way ever, I was in a video xD. Also your face when Magnus said "Aku Cinta Kamu"- I'm happy you remembered the book quote haha. So here are the book-to-screen facts: 1.) As I've mentioned previously, in the books, Jace got bonded with Jonathan, and Clary joined them, while the others looked for ways to separate them. Simon jokingly called Clary, Jonathan, and Jace team evil, while the others were team good. Clary, Jace, and Jonathan just kinda hung around night clubs and chilled, while team good summoned a greater demon, then summoned an angel. 2.) I mean, you know this, but in the books, Malec adopts two little boys, Rafael and Max Lightwood-Bane. A Shadowhunter and Warlock baby 3.) MY SWEET SWEET BOY JEM. In the books, he can't speak when he's a silent brother, but he does eventually regain the ability (and you'll find out why, once I tell you after the finale). Magnus also never asks for his memories of Alec to be taken away. But Jem's answer would have been the same regardless. He and Magnus are good friends, and he would never take away his memories. 4.) Team Evil got hight from the same drug in the books, and honestly, I think it's interesting they kept that little detail in!

2023-07-20 15:20:56 +0000 UTCHow do you not cry for Magnus. He’s so precious! I cried for both of them and I love Magnus more than anyone. Seeing Alec sad/cry makes me sad too though. Next episode is my favorite. You're going to be happy but sad at the same time because it’s going to end with something big with Malec. xD As for the other storylines I basically skipped them and only paid attention to Malec the last few episodes lol
