Shadowhunters 3x17 REACTION; my heart has been shattered.

will I ever emotionally recover? probably not anytime soon, knowing this show, so that's SOOOO comforting. 😭

anyway- RAPHAEL IS A MUNDANE NOW!? Also, I never liked Aldertree. I sniffed out trouble when I saw him, what a fool. tsk tsk.

Yes I am also very happy Raphael got a happy ending in the show, because I would not have survived seeing what happened in the books. Lady Nerissa's backstory is absolutely tragic and I totally recommend you find it. Makes me cry every time

oooooh I love these facts and the changes they made for the show! I am so happy that Raphael got to become human again! Also, love hearing more about Helen's backstory 🩶

omg that is so interesting to know that that was plan for a season 4!! I am so sad that I'm almost done this show, I almost cry every time I think about watching the last episode! 😭

I absolutely see and understand where you're coming from on all your points- however..... we all know how I feel about Alec 🫢🤣 And I absolutley am like you in the sense of not wanting people to see me cry/breakdown. However, I feel like if I did have a partner who saw me struggling/about to break down like that and didn't try to be there for me, even if I was saying no, I think I would after the fact I would feel upset or like they didn't care enough to be there for me during a hard time. So I really feel like this is one of those instances where people are so different in these situations! Totally agree, I feel like we could've used the serum/injections to do so so much good for people who really didn't want to be a downworlder! of course, responsibly! 🩶 I love being able to have these discussions!! 😊

Ah so it only gets worse from here- here are the fun facts of the episode (except my formatting is weird because I'm on my phone instead of my computer-) 1.) The seelie rings were a real thing used in the books, which helped Clary spy on Jace and Sebastian (when Jace was tied to Sebastian- spying on Jace is not something she usually does). Except, the rings were never previously used by Shadowhunters. They belonged to the Seelie Queen, and the crew had to get it from her. 2.) Helen never worked for this program, and probably never would. She was first introduced to the group through Alec, Magnus, and Aline, as the four of them had gotten close during a mission in Rome. She's very responsible, logical and very kind in the books. She has six siblings who live in Los Angeles. Mark, Julian, Ty, Livvy, Dru, and Tavvy. Helen and Mark's father was a blackthorn, while their mother was a Seelie (her name is Lady Nerissa). The rest of the kids are all Shadowhunter children. 3.) The Morgenstern swords never had the power to rescue Sebastian. Only something like Glorious, which has heavenly fire in it, would work in that case. 4.) The Heavenly Fire plotline was not a thing in the book. The only access to the material of Heavenly Fire they had came from the sword Glorious (more on what happened with that in later episodes), which they group received from summoning an angel. Also, Aldertree was long dead by the time this plotline would have happened in the books (but I'm just happy they didn't use Jia as the villain again). This does mean however that Raphael never became human in the books.5.) Heline my girls <333

I agree, totally! I love that Alec held him and was there for him in that moment, when it's such an easy time to let your significant other just run and then you don't have to deal with it. the fact that he just held him and let him get it out made me just love them even more, the fact that they can lean on each other like that! 😭

Seeing Magnus and Alec sad makes me cry! The next 2 episodes is going to be torture. Well not so much episode 18 but episode 19 so make sure your ready for even more tears! I wish season 4 would have happened. The writers changed the storyline for Malec for the final 2 episodes. If season 4 would have happened the writers said they were going to have “Dark Magnus” and Alec was going to “bring him back from the dark side” I would have loved this storyline so much!!!

Ups and downs :D I'm gonna be unpopular with my opinions again, I can feel it :) Last episode Magnus almost admited that he would rather die than live without his magic. He just went through traumatic experience (only yesterday?). Alec was apologizing to Magnus for not noticing how hurt he was, that he was just happy that they could grow old together. And now Alec does it again - he deludes himself that now that Magnus is not dying everything is fine and they can just live happily ever after. I appreciate his guts to be always the first one to move forward - he kissed Magnus first (and at his own wedding), he pushed for sex first, he said I love you first, he asked to move together first and even though he got shot down he asked again. And now this proposal? They are now how long together? Two, three months? Alec, I love you, but now is not the right time. Slow down. As for the end scene. I'm a private and proud person as well and I absolutely hate just the idea of breaking in front of anyone. At first I don't want anyone near me, they would be just a distraction, I don't need them to hover over me. I think part of me would resent Alec for forcing me to stay even though I said no. I hope Magnus is different in this regard. And my poor heart is breaking seeing our confident and sassy Magnus crying. The writers are really out to get him this season. And the secret project of turning downworlders to humans - I feel like there would be tons of people who would jump for the opportunity to be a human again. If they arrested Aldertree immediately they didn't have to destroy everything. They could just advertise that whoever wants to turn back they can. Just look at Raphael, that's what he always wanted. They didn't have to force him. Turn this clusterfuck into something positive. But no, let's just take enough to save Clary and destroy everything else. And Jonathan... I agree, his story is sad, but that's life, not everyone will have a happy life and it's certainly no excuse for them doing bad stuff. Jonathan doesn't even understand that killing people for his gain is not cool. He's just a kid with too much power throwing tantrum because his sister doesn't like him.

Another great reaction! Tough times for us Malec shippers. 😫 Magnus suffered a great loss and is really depressed, so I’m glad Alec realized that it wasn’t the right time to propose yet. Magnus knew he was going to break down and tried so hard to leave because he didn’t want Alec to see him like that. I loved so much that Alec saw through that front and didn’t let him run. He held Magnus there and said, “Just let me be here with you.” Loved that! It might be angsty, but I still adored the scene because we got to see another level of intimacy between Alec and Magnus. I can’t wait for your next reaction! All the remaining episodes are excellent in my opinion.
