There are literally no words to describe the immense amount of pain inside me. the happiness really happens and then is ripped away. AND JORDAN ON TOP OF IT? I didn't realize I actually cared about him that much 😭
the way I'm sobbing from editing this- I- I can't handle it... guys, that was beautiful and so painful and omg. I can't talk anymore.
omg this is so awesome! I would've DIED 🩶

this is so random but I love Jade who plays Meliorn; I once doodled him and put it on my art instagram account with a caption that said "I should be studying instead" (or something like that) and he actually replied in the comments saying that he's a bad influence, I was LIVING

yes to maryse!! I was so happy that she was able to see straight through everything and speak to them about it! queen behavior!
as for Jordan, I really didn't think I cared either, until this was happening and you're right, I think the acting and song choice really pushed it over the edge for me to get all emotional!
hahah RIGHT? I was like there are people dying, get it together, then malec, I'm like, we actually have all the time you need, PLEASE, please do this 🤣this scene hurt me so bad, but it was so well done! I loved it!! 🩶

An excellent reaction to an excellent episode! Think back to Malec’s first kiss in season 1 and Maryse’s reaction to their relationship, it’s so satisfying to see her character’s growth. She was the one to put two and two together and get these two adorable dorks on the path to get back together.
Sizzy scenes were great. Although they didn’t kiss, the fond looks they gave each other after Simon helps Izzy with her wounds were almost as satisfying!
Yes, Jordan and Maia were heartbreaking. I didn’t think I cared much one way or the other about Jordan but the way they did these scenes, the writing, editing, song choice, and acting, it really was powerful.
And of course the ending! I love how we all chide Clace for kissing in the middle of a catastrophic attack, but are completely on board when Malec does it the very next scene! Lol. Shameless and I love it. The shared proposal was epic. Magnus’ despaired look right before he has to leave when Alec says, “You always come back.” Magnus looks like his heart is breaking because in that moment he knows he can’t, but he tries to put on a brave face and make a lighthearted remark to soothe Alec a bit. And then Alec collapsing to his knees in agony as they watch Magnus seal the rift from the other side. Ugh. One of my favorite scenes!!

Yes she has. Maryse has become one of my favorites. 😂 I love how she’s there for Magnus too now.

yes totally for sure, Lorenzo is..... something 🤣 it would've been cool to see a darker magnus, although, maybe too painful for me to handle so I'm kind of happy we didn't 🤔 although, tbf, if we had more seasons, I would've enjoyed that for sure!
omg, Jonathan is such a baby, I've gone over the line of compassion that I have for him at this point, now, he just bothers me 🤣

I had no clue at the time that it meant he wasn't able to come back, so you'll get to see my shock regarding that tidbit in 3x21 🤣
I loved that Maryse put the pieces together on the failed proposal and why they broke up, it was so well done, ugh, she's grown so much in my book!

I'm kind of sad they had to wrap the whole story so quickly. I would be interested in seeing Magnus go a little bit darker. Although I'm afraid we would have to deal with a lot of guilt after so I guess no, thank you. It's just that Asmodeus seemed like he would be a really cool villain. And at least we got the proposal out of it. That whole scene was amazing. Although a tiny part of me was grumbling that really? Right now? People are dying out there, hurry it up.
I don't really have much to say about this episode, it was a great one. I even loved how Jace didn't hesitate and just stabbed Clary with the sword. I didn't think he had it in him. And I had to laugh at Lorenzo's offhand cruelty (the remark about a love potion). I mean, the guy is still dick but at least he's consistent. The only eye rolling moment for me was Jonathan screaming that Clary will never love him back. Dude, grow up, she's your sister, go find yourself some nice demon or something if you're lonely. There's no need to destroy the whole world just because you're having a bad day.

OMG THIS EPISODE. THIS EPISODE IS ONE OF THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST EPISODES. I love it so much, I cry every time I watch it. I have a few depressing facts, so let's get into it- 1.) Asmodeus says that Belial (Lorenzo's father) is under his command, but that is not the case in the books. In the books, Belial is another Prince of Hell, and Asmodeus' brother. Equal in power and nobility. Also, Belial only had one child, that we know of. A warlock named Tessa Gray, who, you know. 2.) Jordan does die in the books. But his death is a little different. In the books, when Clary and Jace get away from Jonathan, he starts attacking each institute, killing Shadowhunters all over the world. When his attack on the London Institute failed (because of the ghost that protected it), Jonathan took his anger out on the New York praetor lupus. When Jordan and Maia went to visit it, they found the place completely destroyed, and Jonathan was there. He killed Jordan, and as Jordan died in Maia's arms, he told her to bring a message to the downworld (it was an ultimatum- refuse to work with the Shadowhunters, or he would continue to attack the downworld). Before he left, Jonathan's last words to Maia were "your boyfriend is dead". Maia felt really guilty after Jordan's death, because she had been meaning to break up with him for the past week (in the book, they had been dating for a few months), and now he would never know that she has fallen out of love with him. And she believed that meant he died being lied to. 3.) Magnus got rid of Asmodeus by sending him into limbo, and in the books, I doubt that would have stopped a greater demon. Since they can travel from realm to realm so easily. There was only ever one greater demon to be killed, and when he died, he was replaced by another version of himself (kind of like Doctor Who, just go with it). Also, said greater demon was killed by Cortana, a legendary sword made by Wayland the Smith. 4.) So, as I've said before, Jace was connected to Jonathan, not Clary. And in the book, they saved Jace the same way they saved Clary. However, no one was hit by the sword, like Izzy was. What happened instead was that the Heavenly Fire was transferred into Jace's veins, and he just kinda walked around for a month with fire in his blood. Contact with downworlders didn't affect him (like in the show), but high emotions did. This is super important for the finale, because in my comment for it, I talk about what happens to each character in the books. And the heavenly fire alters Jem, Jonathan, and Jace's future A LOT. Especially Jem. 5.) Jonathan's siege on Alicante was much different in the books, so much so I don't have the time to go into it, but I do a little bit in the final comment. Just know that Magnus did not go to edom willingly in the books, and Jonathan didn't open the rift. Jonathan kidnapped Magnus, Luke, Jocelyn, Meliorn, and Raphael, to bait Clary into ruling Edom with him. 6.) The. Proposal. There are so many little details I could point out that BREAK ME every time. Like when Alec says, "you'll always come back," and Magnus shakes his head, just a little. Or when Magnus says "I never thought I'd be a run away groom," because in the books, he thought no one would ever love him enough to want to marry him, and Alec responding with, "only if you'll marry me too," to reassure Magnus that yes, he wants to marry him, and it is them to the end. It's just so beautiful. And the song, Bridges, which plays in the background just HURTS ME SO MUCH. Every time. It's perfect. When she sings "they'll be others with greener grass/but I'll stick through it" it's because in the books, they had to fight tooth and nail for their marriage to be legally recognized in the clave, they had to fight to be able to love each other, and it was hard. Especially with the mortal/immortal problem. But as is stated in the books, neither of them would want a less strange love. 7.) In the books, the two of them waited 5 years before they got married. And it was worth the wait. They waited for reasons I will get into another day, but when the time came, it was perfect. Alec proposed THE SAME NIGHT they got married, and I wanted to share the quote from when he proposed in the book. It's very famous in the fandom, and possibly one of my favorites of all time: "'When I found you, I didn’t know what I was finding,' Alec said. 'Words about things that are beautiful and precious to me don’t come easily. You know that. You know me better than anyone.' He licked his dry lips. 'And when one day people look back on me and what my life meant, I don’t want them to say, ‘Alec Lightwood fought in the Dark War’ or even ‘Alec Lightwood was Consul once.’ I want them to think, ‘Alec Lightwood loved one man so much he changed the world for him.’ '
Magnus’s eyes shone bright as stars. He gazed at Alec with eyes full of joy, of a feeling so profound Alec felt humbled to be a part of it. 'You know you’ve already changed the world for me.'
'Will you marry me?' Alec whispered. His heart was beating like a frantic bird’s wings. 'Right now? Tonight?'
Magnus nodded wordlessly and pulled Alec to his feet. They wrapped their arms around each other, and Alec leaned up just that little bit, since Magnus was just that little bit taller, which he had always loved.
And they kissed for a long time."

SO basically the only way Magnus was able to close the rift was inside Edom meaning he can’t come back. This scene destroyed me so bad and still makes me cry! I hated seeing Alec cry again! Also Maryse being the one to tell Magnus about Alec wanting to propose is the best thing ever. She had the most character development in my opinion.
This final scene would have been so much better if when everyone went over to Alec they changed to Magnus closing the rift then skipped back to them seeing him succeed. That would have been so cool! Next mission, rescue Magnus from Edom! lol
