Nadine loved her time in Greece. She'd just finished high school and had worked her way across Europe. The Medusa's head had been special. She'd bugged out of a particularly boring history trek to explore a small cave. At the back, buried in the loose sand was an obviously very ancient head of a woman with snakes for hair. Nadine hadn't taken in classics and didn't know an awful lot about Greek mythology so she simply loved the thing for its artistic value. She knew, of course, that she should declare it but they'd just take it from her so she packed it up with a bunch of other things and mailed the box home. Now back at home, she unpacked the various things she'd mailed to her parents to hold onto her. They'd remind her of her time "over there" for decades. Somehow, the strange head hadn't been discovered by Customs officials in Greece nor in Canada.
That night, with the strange head staring down at her from its shelf, Nadine had a number of very vivid dreams (almost nightmares). In them, she was a snake that could turn people to stone. The horror of her victims as they slowly changed from flesh to stone was immense and Nadine felt horrible because she was doing it to them. Morning brought the real surprise ... she no longer had legs. She was now a 25 meter long snake from her waist on. She looked into the mirror only to discover that the green-eyed monster of her dreams was now staring back at her. What was worse, her long beautiful tresses were falling out and she knew, without being told, what would grow to take their place.
