Young Royals 2x4 REACTION; oh, I'm so stressed.

I'm so sorry - THEY DON'T HAVE NAMES!? oh, that's going to put me in an early grave. simon telling Marcus that says so much for the love that he has and holds for Wilhelm in not sharing that. omg, I'm in shambles. your honor, I love him. anyway, I felt so much pain in this episode watching Wilhelm and simon kind of go at each other in different ways and not being productive really in any way. I thought we weren't going to get anything good between them this season but I was so wrong - THAT KISS. brb I'm going to go cry about that kiss. also- Sara and august are something. I totally get why Sara didn't want to go with him, but if she actually does like him, she should've told him that she's worried about Felice before telling him yes to begin with. oh these messy teens 🤣 hopefully we can ditch Marcus now but I fear it won't be that easy....

omg, stunning, chef's kiss, perfection, we love 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

omg yes, iconic! 🤣

Ryann Rodkey

LITERALLY and omg that is so painful sounding, that's horrible 🤣

Ryann Rodkey

while I totally agree that simon shouldn't be using Marcus in this way, simon would never have manipulated and gaslit Marcus into being with him if Marcus told him he didn't want a relationship sooo sorry Marcus, but am I really? 🤣

Ryann Rodkey

yes!! exactly! the showing and not telling this show is so elite!! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

you're so right!! I'm quite surprised though that there is discourse on this because we literally saw the conversation between Wille and Simon regarding this and that's not how it went?? oh well, I will die on Simon's hill every time 🤣 yes yes yes!! you're so right, if simon would've said okay and continued with the relationship as it was, everything would ALWAYS be on Wille's terms and the crown's terms and that isn't fair, so I'm so proud of simon always for staying strong in his decision no matter how painful it is! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

I LOVED THAT WILLE WAS SO MATURE!! he handled it with soooo much grace and you're right, I think it said a lot to simon. we never would've gotten that kiss I don't think if Wille would've treated Marcus badly, so thank god for that!! you're so right! I LOVED that he stood there and waited for simon to kiss him and make sure he wanted to - a literal KING. Omar and Edvin were *chef's kiss* in the acting without words this episode. well, always, but ESPECIALLY in this episode. there were soooo many moments of them showing soooo much on their faces. ugh, it's so good! omg - the ending when they are both just so happy and living in that moment, I'm so weak. 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

I agree.

Pam R

I agree, I feel like even if Wille had told/had a conversation with simon, he probably would've ended it anyway bc he doesn't want to be a secret and you're right, would probably feel like Wille was ashamed, but he at least wouldn't have felt such a betrayal and had such broken trust in him! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

ahhh thank you!! you're so right! his smile is crazy infectious, I get so distracted!! ohmygod! that's so beautiful! I love that!! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

that is how I started this episode! I was fearful there was going to be zeroooo scenes of us like even being flirty let alone kissing! phew. omg brb crying, yes Omar! it said so much, just seeing us get to see him thinking about how he was going to answer it and knowing he was reliving that memory and chose not to say, I love him. omg- that is so heartbreaking, seeing the cut to him crying was so emotional and broke my heart!! he's going through it in every way, I just wanted to hold him this episode!! it's so funny bc I'm the first one typically to call out cheating even if it's for something I want to happen - however, this was the first time I was ever celebrating it and I think it does have to do a lot with the fact that simon tried so hard to be honest with Marcus about not wanting a relationship and was steamrolled and gaslit into it? so for me, I was like yes simon get out of there!! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

omg the fish scene - it took me out 😭

Ryann Rodkey

Also something to note is that the show uses a lot of symbolism. Music represents love so Simon did write Wilhelm a love letter in the from of a song that he sang directly to him. The nose equals longing and desire. Ear=music=love. Water =depth of feelings so Wilhelm drinking the water is swallowing his feelings.

Jayne Riley

Yes exactly that. Simon was upset and lashed out at Wills. He didn't mean to sound so harsh and was immediately regretful. We've all been there and lashed out in an argument and then wished we hadn't. It's not good but it happens.

Jayne Riley

"F**k Marcus." Seriously. We need t-shirts.

jennifer

You said it so well! 🙌🏻

AngelaTeacher

Yeah I took Simon's final expression there as exasperation for himself- what he said was true but he didn't mean to say it that way or to hurt Wille with the way he said it.

Dionne Lakey

I totally agree with you. I love that they argue and question each other. At times they hold back because they're aware of maybe not understanding the other enough - but they aren't always afraid to question the other person. It's why I've always known they will work out. They aren't just yes men to each other.

Dionne Lakey

Love what you said about their power dynamic. Imho this is one reason why they work together. Yes, they fight and have miscommunication and misunderstandings because they don’t just roll over and accept the other person’s terms all the time. That’s a good thing. They need to learn to communicate better, but I think they each appreciate that they have different backgrounds, opinions, and viewpoints, and they learn from each other. I think that’s a big reason they were attracted to each other in the first place. Wille loves Simon’s outspoken feistiness (he couldn’t stay away after Simon insulted him in class LOL), and Simon loves that Wille surprised him by not being an elitist prick, actually being kind and pretty down to earth for a prince…

AngelaTeacher

exactly! subtext is EVERYTHING in this show. i have seen a fair share of reactors who have a hard time understanding characters/situations/scenes because they do not grasp the subtext the show does so much. sometimes things are not going to be spelled out for u, but even a simple facial expression can tell u everything u need to know. for example, in this ep with the scene where wille and simon are in the locker room and are going at it and simon tells wille he does not accept his role as a prince and we see wille hurt and leave, they could have had simon say something here but instead they lingered on simon as he stood there, sighed, and put his head in his hands. no need for words when body language tells u everything

Roj

That is one reason I love this show so much. It has so much subtext if you pay attention. Lots of showing instead of telling.

AngelaTeacher

He’s such a clueless donut sometimes.

😭😭😭

Simon: They don't have names. Olle, Oski and Felle: 👀 Simon: [only worthy people know their names.] Funfact: Netflix released a video called "Every time Wille smiles this season." to promote season 2... The video was less than 90 seconds. 😂😂😂

I mean as promo material for Season 2 Netflix released a video called "every time Wille smiles this season"... The video was less than 90 seconds. 😂😂😂

I love Simon to the moon and back and yes Marcus is problematic, but Simon is so in his own head, and taking Marcus to the ball and using him as he is, is not OK. We tend to give Simon a pass because of the magnetism he has with Wille and because he looks like a blameless angel, but if you step back, you see that he is exploiting Marcus. If what Simon is doing with Marcus was happening in reverse we would be very upset. Simon is leading him on here and is wrong for this. I love all these flawed characters.

Dionne Lakey

This is one of my favourite episodes in the show for how many key things happen with all the main characters and are spoken about between them. Not one scene, or line of dialogue is superfluous - even with the minor characters. Some of the throw-away lines are important too. The locker room fight between Wille and Simon is strangely for me one of the best moments of communication between the two of them. In their frustration with each other, they're able to really express some deep feelings they have. We're reminded that Simon loves Wille for the boy he is, not because he's a Prince. But being accepted for all of who he is, is important to Wille. So they have a lot of work to do in understanding each other better.

Dionne Lakey

Simon and Wille's chemistry when Simon sings to him is the most intimate thing. Simon is singing his heart out with so much emotion, and the intensity of Wille's gaze makes him feel so seen and understood. That singing scene is so stunning for the costuming, lighting, Omar's beautiful voice, and of course their gorgeous secret smiles to each other. Then the final closing song: The Most Beautiful Boy by The Irrepressibles is timed so well. The lyrics 😭 These creators are so good at showing Simon and Wille's love - not just telling us that they love each other.

Dionne Lakey

Classic Wille to Simon "You don't love me anymore" 💜bless him.

Dionne Lakey

So I hate part of the conversation with Nils for the confusion it contributes to some of the fans. Nils asks if Simon wanted Wille to admit it was him in the video. Wille says no, he specifically says that Simon didn't want him to talk about the video at all, i.e. make a statement. Nils goes on, as if he didn't just hear Wille, to say that how can Simon expect Wille to admit it was him when it would be so much of a bigger deal as a prince internationally to admit it was him, compared to Simon as a nobody being outed. He also says how can Simon expect that of you when you've only been together a couple of months. Nils very obviously misinterprates what Wille said here. Simon did NOT want Wille to come out. Wille doesn't confirm what he said and just says: "Simon doesn’t see it that way." So, from this point on I've seen fans be down on Simon for expecting Wille to come out and admit it was him in the video. They take the last partvof this conversation as thevtruth of what actually happened. Also, Simon wanting to be a secret, is not Simon needing Wille to be out so they can have a relationship. He first and foremost broke up with Wille because he can't trust him to do what he says he will about their relationship and he left him on his own to deal with the fall-out. Plus everything was on Wille's terms, including hiding the relationship with Simon. Simon had no say in how their relationship went. The power dynamic between these two characters only balances out because Simon is so strong-willed, stands up for himself, and is honest about his feelings. Wille holds all the power (of class, of demands, even here, of public opinion) if Simon does not push back.

Dionne Lakey

“Simon, I love you so much. Now do the right thing. Ditch Marcus!!” Lmao we are the same 🤣 FISHES. That is all 👀 THAT KISS. The look on Wille’s face when Simon gets close 🥺 I love that after being petty AF all season, Wille is so mature at the dance. It wakes Simon the hell up. I also love that Wille waits for Simon to kiss him and doesn’t push. Consent is so sexy (yo Marcus, take notes buddy) And the tortured look on Simon’s face?? Omar’s acting here is stunning. You can practically see him thinking, “oh god…yep, I’m still so in love with him…F$&K” The contrast between the kisses in this episode between Simon x Marcus and Simon x Wille always makes me laugh 🤣 I literally think this is the first time we’ve seen Wille smile all season. I was a mess right along with him at the end. Omar’s gorgeous voice, those song lyrics, their smiles, SIMON BLUSHING 😭

AngelaTeacher

Nils is a character I like sometimes and don't at other times. But to defend him a little, I don't think he was saying Simon didn't deserve for Wille to be honest with him. I think he was meaning about saying it wasn't in the video in the statement. That Simon and Unknown boy kind of get forgotten about but Simon and Crown Prince of Sweden, that's not going anywhere. But Wille should have been honest when he changed his mind and talked to Simon before the statement given. I Which was def after the queen go her claws into him. I still think Simon would have probably ended it thought because he was hurt by the lie but he was devastated by being something Wille was ashamed(I don't think wille thought that but Simon probably did) of and had to hide. But that's only how I see it. Nils is a very interesting character and is like become the only older lgbtq+ character he had to look up to.

Pam R

awesome reaction! :] have been waiting for this one! love how much you're invested in simon's character! i agree about the smile.. i think omar has such an infectious smile. i mean, you saw that during the live performance in stockholm. you cant help but be happy. since none of the other info-sharing fans mentioned this part i will - that choir performance at the end of the episode edvin had purposely not heard the song prior to filming so that wille's reaction was genuine. which is pretty cool, in my opinion.

LM-Entertainment Australia

gosh the amount of relief i got when i watched this ep and the boys kissed, i didn't even think we would get one until the finale LOL omar said simon not telling marcus the names of the fish was one of his favorite scenes because it shows how much he loves wille. the fact that he did not want to share such "small" info with marcus because it holds such a tender memory with wille. edvin said in that scene where wille is putting on his prince costume and starts crying, that wille was crying because he looked in the mirror and saw himself dressed as this "traditional" prince. it was kinda like he hated what he saw. very heartbreaking cause we know how much wille basically hates being a prince, or just royal in general. wille and simon are the kings of pettiness. it can be so frustrating to watch these boys constantly going at it and hurt each other (almost always unintentionally though). but i do remind myself that at the end of the day, they are teenage boys. not just teenage boys, but teenage boys who have gone through and are still going through so much stress in their lives. its hard to process ur emotions and communicate them healthily at their age, i was like that too. while i do not usually condone cheating, simon did not even want to be in this relationship AND marcus knew that, so i happily support those boys raining on marcus' parade LOL

Roj

Going to start watching now. But I just have to say, you always know who really likes the show and characters and pays attention, when they get it about the fish.
