Young Royals 3x4 REACTION; the lollipop.

guys I'm sorry, there was something going on with that lollipop. anyway, I feel like we had SO many important conversations in this episode. from the first conversation with Wille and simon talking about the monarchy and how simon can like Wille but not the system, then the talk about the foundations and Wille using his position of power to make some real change and of course them talking about how their differences make them learn and maybe think differently. they were all so important and so so well done. I'm happy that simon was able to leave and process his emotions about Wille deciding to go on strike with everyone and ultimately came back to participate. Vincent stays being the absolute worst and Sara kind of broke my heart talking to Felice. the most heartbreaking of all though may have been ayub saying it hurt that simon deleted his account and then august breaking down Wille's idolization of Erik. ugh, I don't like feeling for august, but this is a situation where it's heartbreaking for both of them. I'm worried about Wille's birthday - fingers crossed 🩶

omg, relating Simon to a bird with its wings clipped is going to make me cry. it's so real! and painful. I loved their conversations in this episode. they felt so grown up and mature in many instances, even if they disagree. I kind of felt like Erik was involved in some way and it was upsetting seeing august break that information to Wille and watching everything crumble in Wille's mind in real time. just so upsetting. spoiler alert, my mental health is not doing great after 3x5. I'M STRUGGLING 😭🩶

totally agree with you! I totally get why Wille didn't want to choose those as his what his foundation was surrounding and support him in that decision. I really appreciated they were able to have that conversation and he listened to what Simon had to say and was able to process that and tell him why he didn't want to do that in a mature and respectful way. but him deciding to participate in the strike like that was such a slap in the face to the way Vincent was treating Simon literally hours earlier so I understand why Simon was upset and left initially. also agree with everything you said about Erik! Wille's whole perception is thrown and now he's left wondering if his brother who he idealized would even like/accept who he is! that's devastating! 🩶

I'm so sorry. the way I wouldn't have survived that scene if it was in the show. I'm too weak for that 🤣 I'll be watching this video in my next interviews/extras bc I'm sure, I'll lose it over whatever the hell Omar says 🤣

I am 100% convinced they made Vincent such an ass this season so August would look sympathetic in comparison. Vincent was totally drawing a self-portrait in that dirt 🤭 Another reactor compared Simon to a bird being put in a cage for safety but having his wings clipped. That’s so spot on and so heartbreaking to watch. He’s trying his best to hang in there because he loves Wille so much, but he is losing himself and his passions in the process. Wille and Simon work so beautifully together when it’s just them, without any interference. Sure, they disagree, and don’t always communicate well, but they love each other deeply and try their best. Like we saw in this episode, they complement and learn from each other, don’t want to hurt each other, and they always come back to each other. But Wille being the Crown Prince and all the pressure that comes with it for both of them just won’t allow them any peace 😔 I love the grown up conversations they had in this episode about the monarchy, their differences and ideals, etc. It’s painful for us, because we just want them to work and be happy. But they need to have these conversations to realize what’s most important to them both, and perhaps most importantly, what is healthy for them as individuals and as a couple. It sucks they have to go through any of this, but then we wouldn’t have a show and feel ALL THE THINGS. I saw that Erik reveal coming but OOF. Wille has been trying so hard to live up to his role as crown prince, for the sake of his mom’s health, and to honor Erik, the one person in his family that made him feel loved. And now Wille’s not even sure Erik would have loved him anymore bc of who he is. Just like Simon and Sara, his whole idea of his beloved brother has been shattered. “Guys, I just need this to work out, okay?? For my own mental health!!” GIRL, you are so relatable. They deserve EVERYTHING. I think I held my breath through the entire last two episodes. Your fear that everything is going to go to hell is so real lol. Young Royals, what have you done to us?! Good thing you love a good rollercoaster 😅 Strap in and hold on tight!!! Wheeeee!!

yea i get that! i do agree that for wille he did see this as a way for him to demonstrate without having the restrictions that are usually placed onto him. but for simon, i completely understand where he is coming from as well because this demonstration is being led by people who always mock simon for showing solidarity for serious issues so it definitely had to hurt to see wille sort of "take their side" on this.

totally agree with everything you said - except i have one small difference in opinion about the strike in the school hall. i definitely agree with simons argument of wille and the other guys hypocrisy after calling him out for demonstrating. though, one of the key words in what wille says to simon here is that if he can protest / demonstrate without "consequence" which was the exact word he used.. shouldnt he take it? he's used to never being able to stand up for what he believes in due to his role and being in the public eye - but this was behind closed doors and i think he wanted to feel that this was one time he could do that and not have any consequences. plus, i think part of wille's reasoning for this would have been solely to get his phone back so that he could communicate with simon at night or whenever he likes. we saw previously in the season where they were talking sensually and then he was interrupted by giving his phone back. that was my only thought that was different to what you've said.

I agree with everything you wrote here. The privileged kids are striking for selfish reasons and don't care about the greater good. Also they have zero sense of how a protest works they expected to get what they wanted straight away. They were not sharing their reacorces and were selling them to the highest bidder which goes against the principle of a strike. However the rich kids were right that their parents and former students would likely be on their side. They got their own way in the end due to their privilege.

i love that this ep really showed the hypocrisy of these privileged rich kids. because it is so REAL. someone striking for real issues like simon is mocked and then u have these privileged ppl go and strike for stuff that does not matter. the amount of times i have seen this scenario in real life... loved that they had wille repeat the quote "its a privilege. not a punishment" that his mom repeatedly told him in s1. it just shows how his mom, and the monarchy in general, has basically brainwashed him into believing this. so i actually have maybe not a *super* popular opinion about the discussion of wille's foundation theme. i think simon is absolutely valid in feeling like someone with a platform should use it to advocate for serious issues such as lgbtq or mental health stuff. but i also think wille is valid in not wanting to be advocate when he is just a teenager. we know wille is someone who hates being a public figure, and suffers from severe anxiety. he is not someone who would do well in that position, because if he speaks out about these types of issues, he will basically be crowned an activist given his crown price title. i do not think he wants to be put on that pedestal and i can see why. simon is however completely right in calling out the hypocrisy of wille wanting to join the strike. i understand wille just wants to have the rules lessened but i agree with what simon said! this entire series has been wille trying to live up to his brothers legacy, and now he realizes a dark truth behind it. its why nobody should put people on a pedestal, because they can easily fall right off of it and it will DESTROY u. the creator said in an interview that erik was the good that wille saw in the monarchy. this idea that, if someone as good as him was in the monarchy, than maybe it is not THAT bad. but this truth reveals that the monarchy really does corrupt everybody inside of it. i mean, we have even see how the monarchy has corrupted wille in a way. while i was shocked by this truth being revealed, i think it made all my assumptions about erik correct. i knew that something had to be up with erik from literally season 1 because we knew that erik was best friends with all those elitist pricks that wille and simon hate! so if erik is best friends with those kind of people, i thought to myself, there was no way he was PERFECT. and im so glad my assumptions were right

AngelaTeacher

fun fact i wanted to add before i watch: the original lollipop scene was supposed to have simon letting wille suck on his lollipop in front of the boys LOL but omar had a cold so they had to try and do a trick by switching the lollipops out but it was too difficult so they ended up cutting it out. rip to what could have been such an iconic scene
