Let's talk...

To all Patrons:

Recently if you have seen the number of patrons that support me has drastically gone down, why?, I made a quick Q&A for this:

Q - Did they deleted their pledges?

A - No...

Q - But they are not supporting you anymore right?

A - Indeed

Q - Then, they did deleted their pledges! no?

A - No, I did.

Q - Why!? that is madness!

A - Is not madness, it's called "Fraud"

The last 2 months, I had good news over and over, better explained as "New pledge has been detected", but, when Patreon attempted to charge this "new patrons" well... that just didn't happen, because their status changed from "Ok" to "Fraud", so... I thought, "Hey maybe it's a mistake let's wait a bit (30 days)" but nothing changed, so I had to delete those "fraud" pledges.

This is an issue that needs to be addressed, but how? well I'm open to suggestions, if you want to help I'll be reading your suggestions in the comments section, thank you.

Oh no Mr. Red Chilito, declined patrons are one thing, that's fine, everyone has issues with payments sometimes, the ones that I blocked (and deleted) was the ones with the status "FRAUD" Patreon flags them that way.

Frauds are growing more and more each month so I think patreon is going to do something about it cause you´re not the only creator I know that is having these problems (Donburi just posted about this a few days ago), maybe you should continue giving a lapse of time for those who had declined payments ( as me hahaha, sry btw ): ) but just for a few days .I hope this problem gets fixed before the year ends to have a good beginning of 2018.

You did gave me insight on the patrons side, thank you. I do have a big project in mind but it's not the time yet, when it comes, I will gladly let you patrons know first!

yeah, i can also see how if i was that sort i could abuse it to do what your having this problem with. your one of nearly a dozen on here that i currently support for a monthly total of over $100, so you can see why i use that to give me a grace period to see if an artist is worth my time and money. while i still can't give any advice like i would want to, i hope i have at least given you insight to a side of this subject you otherwise might not have had reason to think about.(as well as a good conversation) also, if you ever have a BIG project(like a comic book or game) that you want to fund where the regular patreon funds would not be enough, i suggest doing a kickstarter. you would not be able to show nude images on your main page, but their system would minimize "fake" backers. just make sure to let us know on here and promote it through any other ways you can. if you ever decide to try it, let me know and i will gladly help you with it.(i've never run one, but i have backed 50+)

Oh I see, you make a very clear point there, such a shame that there are artist who do that.

Waifuholic

actually i have seen quite a few that do exactly that, you are charged when you back. i personally am not fond of this as a patron, because more than once i have backed people only to find their art was not what they said.(thats the real reason you have to pay before you get to see anything) i actually have my account set to pay all my pledges at the end of the month so that if i back somebody that looks interesting but is a fraud, i can cancel without having paid them for their lie's.

I see, believe me I really appreciate when patrons like you notify me of delays or payment problems, it helps a lot. It would be nice if Patreon added a feature to do the first charge as soon as the patronage starts (upfront payment), that way frauds can be detected almost immediately, but right now they cannot be detected until Patreon attempts to charge them.

Sadly virtually every patreon artist deals with this, giving them extra time was decidedly kind of you. After the repeated issues I had with the site over the spring and summer, I can't give you any advice on how to deal with this problem. What I can do, is state that if I have further issues with my pledges, I will notify the people I support.
