korra ep 12

ep 12 - pw: korra12

Season 2 is my least favorite of Korra but they do have some of the coolest moments of korra to offset it.

This was basically a series finale because the writers didnt know if they'd be extended. Which is why it's such a neat tidy ending

Before i dive into my thoughts, I do wanna acknowledge that I understand the politics behind how and why the show was made and subsequent seasons. with that being said, the ending was a turn off. Had the writers known a season 2 was possible i feel like they could have written the ending to have korra only knowing how to airbend. Season 2 being what it is, could have had the perfect opportunity to give us a earned moment of korra gaining her other bending back. Her meeting Aang at the end was unfortunately a missed opportunity to have them share an emotional moment with a dialogue to support it, not just restoring her bending. Again, i as many fans understand why it is the way it is but wishful thinking had me going about it this way, too bad the writers werent giving the proper flex to do this show how they wanted.

It has been an honor going on this season 1 journey with you melon! Season 3 is by far the best season the whole avatar franchise produced in my opinion, and I can’t wait to see your reactions.

Can't wait til Season 2 so we get to see more Bumi. He's one of the best characters in the show imo. And yeah the finale of S1 is SO good. and yeah Tarlok and Amon are gone, and likely dead. Kids show meant they couldn't be too explicit about it but yeah there's no way they survived that.

Yeah, it was originally supposed to be a mini-series with the one season.

Ep 11 was a bit exposition heavy, but this episode is packed to the brim with actual stuff happening! Bring on Season 2!

I believe the creators of the show were uncertain if they would get more than 1 season to work with for Korra so seasons 1 and 2 both were written with the ability to continue on or also end with the final episode in their respective season. Then for seasons 3-4 they knew they had those 2 seasons to work with towards a series finale.

It's not very explicit but when Korra was on the cliffside at the end, it's meant to be imply that she's contemplating suicide as a result of her "not being the avatar" anymore in order to continue the rebirth cycle into the Earth Kingdom. That's what Aang meant about Korra hitting her lowest point. This episode really conveys that the series will encompass much darker themes which really manifest in Season 3.
