2024-05-21 23:21:28 +0000 UTCZaheer's bending isn't really a huge part of the threat he poses, to the extent that he didn't even have it the last time they tried this. He does the thinking, his team can bend quite well enough that he doesn't need to be an absolute master. Which is not to say that he isn't good, he's had the ability for maybe 2-3 months by this point and is holding his own against a true master. He most likely learned airbending techniques before he could do it, so that he could teach Korra when they tried to capture her as a child - he does say that the Red Lotus would have been her elemental masters.

Nowadays hes up against the most elite benders in the world, the Dai Li, the people in Zaofu, Team Avatar etc. He's not gonna look quite as OP when hes not fighting generic fire bender guard #3.

And they never told where they were born. Maybe they were born in Republic City. After the war there were still colonies of the Fire Nation in the earth kingdom so it's possible that at least 3 out of 4 came from the same nation. I don't know if there is anything known about their past lives before they tried to capture Korra.
